Mt. Rushmore trip

We walked out the front door of the house at 8:00 a.m. yesterday as planned. When Larry Armstrong called me mid-morning on my cell phone, he couldn't believe we had already passed Brady, TX. We travelled all day & arrived in Shamrock, TX late yesterday afternoon (& we were still talking to each other.) After a short nap (road trips are hard work you know) we went for a 3 mile training walk in preparation for our next 1/2 marathon in Chicago on 8/1. (Dolores, I know it was supposed to be 4 miles but we ran out of gas.)

We had dinner last night at Big Vern's Steak House. It is on old Route 66! Good food & a good time! Across the street from Big Vern's was an old service station that was used in the Pixar film Cars. More tomorrow!

Shamrock
I've never heard of Shamrock, Tx! Vern's like a nice local joint! I have never been to Mt Rushmore. I hope it is a wonderful adventure. I expect you to climb to the top to prepare for your marathon! I walked to the dog park for the first time yesterday. It is very nice. The foundation and patio are poured. Framing starts this week.

Magnolia
I don't remember Magnolia -- so obviously I'm not old enough!! Sounds like the trip is lots of fun, especially since you are still talking to each other! Blessings, R.
