Enter Oklahoma. Suddenly trees are shorter, and the weather was very windy and very warm. We are loving each state with all its uniquenesses and adventures! Our best adventure in Oklahoma City was long conversations with our sister and brother-in-law and going to see their work, building projects, and the distinctions of the city. He grew up just a bit north in Guthrie, the original capital of Oklahoma and was able to really fill us in on many of the interesting history of this great State and city. Not only that, they also filled us with some really GREAT food! Excellent BBQ, tremendous breakfast, and an amazing Mexican lunch! However, Rob did underestimate the size of platters in the USA. Unable to decide one of us went for the sampler platter. It was HUGE … and oh so good 😉

The memorial for the OKC bombing in '95 was really moving. There are two large arches separated by a reflecting pool. On each arch are inscribed times. One reads 9:01 and the other 9:03. 9:01 representing the moment of “innocence” prior to the bombing and 9:03 the chaos that followed when things would be changed forever. Looking across the reflecting pool in between and considering all that changed in that short minute is profound. May we each consider the value of every minute on this earth and live as though it were our last! The memorial is overlooked on the hill by a chair representing each of the those who lost their lives in the bombing. It is difficult to hold back tears as you walk among the large chairs for adults and the smaller chairs for each of the young children who also died that day.
