We all slept in. It was a cool morning. Ken built a fire outside; I turned on the fireplace in the RV. For breakfast we had: coffee, tea, hot chocolate (Lola helped and added marshmallows as it was warming on the stove), bacon, toast, oatmeal and eggs!! After breakfast, Lola wanted to use the First Aid kit-pretending she was a doctor and I am the patient. She was so funny; she really gets in to role playing. At the end, I had band aids and ointment everywhere! The girls took a shower and we dressed for hiking. I made a lunch to take with us. It is an absolutely perfect fall day. Sunshine, cool, blue skies, no wind. Couldn't be better!! We drove to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park (just a mile or so). We saw a campground so we took a drive through to see if we ever want to come here. It is a very nice park; maybe we'll come here someday. We drove on through the park. The leaves are changing and it is absolutely gorgeous. We found a parking lot with a trail head. We parked and started our hike. It began with a bridge over
a mountain stream. The trail was covered with beautiful colored leaves and followed the steam. Lola would try to catch them as they fell. Our lunch spot was a huge boulder in the middle of the stream; so beautiful! Lola began pretending that she was the star in 'The Hunger Games', jumping from rock to rock, encouraging me to follow her, holding my hand when needed. I love this innocence in a child that disappears too quickly. Ken found a vine and he and Lola swung on it a few times. We weren't sure how long the trail was but after awhile we turned around and headed back. We drove back to the RV. The girls went to the playground. We could see the playground from where we were, so Ken stayed outside and kept his eye on them. He built a fire. I went inside to make cookies. Lola was supposed to help me, but I was happy that she wanted to play outside. I made oatmeal/chocolate chip cookies. I started prepping for dinner: grilled pork tenderloin, green beans, baked potatoes. As it got close to dinner time, Bella came up and said we need to come down and
see her sand castle. It was so pretty...she is very artistic. The girls came in and washed their hands and we had dinner. After dinner, Ken said we should take a walk to an old cemetery he had seen on the property. It was dark so we took a few flashlights. It was fun. We had to climb up a hill to get to the cemetery. It was surrounded by a white fence with no visible gate or other way to get in. We told Lola that we would lift her up and she could hunt around for a gate....she said 'no'! We headed back to the RV and made s'mores. I took a shower and Lola set up the game 'Cootie'. We had fun playing while Pops washed the dishes and Bella fell asleep. Afterwards, it was time for bed; again Lola fell asleep in our bed, then Pops moved her with Bella.
