picture the ball dropping in Times Square and count 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 with me. count down to china has begun.

altitude apoplexy
-has passed as we now have the right meds for lessening effects of altitude sickness. turned out we have problems with standard med so will take steroids. look out. cdc travel bulletin on high alt. travel got our attention. meds are to control A.S. and to prevent death. we are busing up to high altitude so bodies won't adjust slowly. remember these are the Himalayas. therefore, our bodies have to work harder to uptake lesser amt of oxygen. stay tuned for how we do.

needle news
several shots - we have have had several shots (not Scotch) - typhoid, polio booster, hepatits A & B, check for measles immunity. script for malaria. for those of you contemplating travel, be aware you need to start shots 6 months ahead of travel to have full immunity.

we are not in china yet, just prepping to go. sorry if some thought we were.

Stuff to take
Margi, I had a chat wih Mary re:stuff. She suggested medical supplies (bandaids, antibiotic ointment) vitamin pills, snacks in addition to peanut butter, dried fruits, sun-screen and mole-skin for blisers. She also suggests a credit card with international pin - no travelers checks and small amounts of cash. Also tell your credit card company(s) if you use such things that you will be in China so they don't cut you off. Have a wonderful time. Biff
