I Wish, I Wish I Wish, I Wish I Wish, I Wish

Lulu sitting at the wishing well making her wish to get to Florida...safely
Welcome aboard, dear family and friends. Here we are: together again (Yippee) as we begin our journey into 2015. A very Happy New Year to each one of you. So glad you have joined us and hope you stay throughout this 4 month adventure. "The more the merrier" and you truly make it merry knowing you are right along with us during our expedition...good or bad but always able to turn lemons into lemonade. AND guess who is dancing (best she can) with joy that you are back with us.....LULU, of course. I saw happy tears in her staring eyes as we readied ourselves for the launch this morning.
Just in case you are new to our travel blog, here's a quick overview. After sweet Chip, our loving dog, died - Cory bought me an IPad to occupy some of my time and thoughts. As we traveled along to Florida in our RV for the winter, I attempted to use a travel blog site that our friend, Linda, had introduced me to. I was slow and frustrated catching on to it but eventually mastered the site. It has become my yearly ritual to write and post photos on it to

reach out to our family and friends. I write on it almost everyday (yawn)...it may seem like a lot but it becomes my recorded diary. Hope you like it. If you don't, let me know so I can remove you from my mailing list. Last year I also put it out on my Facebook page which I plan to do again. I won't be hurt if you want removal but Lulu will be. Lulu is the gal with the big red bow and flower in her hair. Chip always posed for my pictures; Cory will some but not with any eagerness or enthusiasm. Thus, LULU said she would join us for that purpose. She's easy to manage. I cut her long locks. She doesn't eat or drink much. She's very quiet. She's just a delight. Sometimes, she thinks she has a big head, though.

We departed our home in Shongo at 10:00 AM today. Lots of little last minute things to do, including the final feed to the critters up back. Good luck, little creatures. I hope you weather the winter okay. Speaking of critters, I must share our drop-off cat story with you if you didn't catch

it on Facebook. We have quite a few feral cats in the neighborhood....they feed on our leftovers we haul up back to our critter feed station. One tiger cat seemed much more friendly than a feral cat so she had to be a drop-off. Of course, Cory said not to feed her around the house as we couldn't take her in.....I agreed but soon felt too sorry for the cat and eventually fed her out on our porch. She was always at our house. One day, my neighbor was coming over and witnessed a terrible event: this kitten/cat was hit by a car in front of our house. She said it was badly injured and dragged itself into the weeds across the road. Cory looked 3 times for it and nothing. We assumed death had come to this pathetic cat. Three weeks later, Cory said " guess who is back?" ......it couldn't be but it was: the drop-off cat had returned. It is true when they say cats have 9 lives! She wobbled as she walked like she had a fractured pelvis. She was very skinny, too. I fed and comforted the poor sad critter. Two days later, she came

for her food and her tail was smashed in two places. I tried to put some antibiotic ointment on it but that didn't do much. Eventually, half her tail fell off. That gave her a name: Stumpy. Now what to do with her. We begged and pleaded with everyone we encountered to take Stumpy....all no. Even the SPCA said no. I made a house for her in our shed and Cory put a lean-to over our furnace pipe that comes out of the cellar. But what will she eat? My neighbor feeds feral cats so we figured that was a possibility but it meant crossing the road. Oh, dear....Finally, a miracle. Our daughter & granddaughter, Lory & Sara, agreed to take Stumpy to live with them. Hallelujah! They already had a cat but hopefully, the two would become friends. Lory took Stumpy to the vet for all the things needed: spaying, shots, etc. Stumpy is now living the high life and loving it. The two cats are slowly beginning to become friends. They have changed her name to "TIE" . You can ask them why. All we can say is thank you, thank you, thank you for giving this poor

cat a loving home. It's been a busy time of the year....it is anyway but this year was busier. Our Thanksgiving was celebrated at our daughter, Kim, and her family's home in Honeoye Falls, NY. It was so nice and we enjoyed our family time together. We left from their house and headed to Syracuse, NY with a trailer full of our antiques and collectibles. We did an antique show at the State Fairgrounds, trying to get rid of more of our stuff since we keep saying we are trying to get out of the business. We did well there but still had items to bring home. We are probably going to take a second booth in our co-op in the Spring and sell the items from there. The little stuff I can sell on Ebay even if it takes the rest of our lives to do it....we have gobs of smalls. Next was preparing for Christmas. It's easier as we have trended to mostly money and gift cards. We took on a project was had planned to do many years ago: sort and distribute all our photographs. We must have had a million pictures, plus duplicates plus negatives. It

took @ two weeks but we have been able to whittle (for you English buffs, I was first using the word widdle here....HINT: that would piss you off) the majority of them down and get them handed off to those who will enjoy them as much as we did. Whew, what a job! After Christmas, we celebrated our daughter's, Lory, 50th birthday at their local community center. And now that brings us to today.....our journey to Florida. We plan to stop in Conover, N.C. and visit our son, Cory, and his family. We need to get our RV de-winterized before landing at Tropical Palms. We are supposed to arrive there on the 8th. We are flexible..maybe sooner, maybe not. We are just fortunate that the weather is cooperating this year....it was not fun and festive barreling last year through the snow ...like a horse driven sleigh....but not quite. The RV did okay but we were ready for"The Home" before the roads improved. We have our sunglasses on but are still bundled up like Eskimos with our jackets, hats, scarves, mittens and heated blanket throws. We have turned the furnaces on and off a couple times to warm the RV up

Bidding good-bye to the critter station
so I have the admit: we are not suffering so you don't have to feel sorry for us. There is not a snowflake insight. The price of gas keeps going down the further south we travel. It's looking good on the horizon. All we have to do is watch out for Big Rocks....remember two years ago when we hit the big rock with our RV? Ouch! We didn't use our RV this summer....too many other things going on. Cory took it up to our RV repair place to get it winterized and some little trickle charger put on our car. Just by chance, the next day, he decided to take the RV and "top it off" with gas. The light for the alternator came on and we were in trouble. We couldn't drive it to have it checked out so a mechanic came to our house and eventually had to replaced it as well as our muffler defuser. We ordered the parts from Tiffin and the mechanic did the work. Had Cory not gone for the gas, we would be in hysterics this morning: faced with a major dilemma and requiring a lot of time to accomplish the repair. Sometimes

She said she could do this as an option, also
we run into Big Rocks, other times we hit just a pebble in the road. Thus ends my first blog of the season. It's looking good: the sun is shining, the gas price is going down, we have turned off our furnace and our big, old buggy seems to be working fine. Fingers crossed for the rest of the trip. We wish you all a Happy and Safe New Year. We are so thrilled to be with all of you, again. Lulu is singing now: Hail, Hail, the gangs all here! With mist in her eyes. Tootle-loo! ?
