Our Family
At the Buffalo Museum of Science A Day To Remember! A wonderful day that will stay in our favorite memory bank forever. Our children and our grandchildren arranged a special day for us to celebrate our 50th Anniversary and 70th Birthdays! What a year of accomplishments....just by living......imagine that! Our wish for celebration was to have our family gather together so we could spend time with one another. Saturday, May 31st, was that day. We all met in Buffalo, New York for a day of entertainment. Cory and I began our lives together in Buffalo, remember? Our son, Cory, and his 3 children, Rachael, Fox & Shenen, drove up from North Carolina. Our son, Tim, and his son, Conner, drove from Rochester. Our daughter, Kim, our son-in-law Jim, and their daughter Haley, also drove from Rochester. Our daughter, Lory, son-in-law Jay, and their daughter Sara drove from Scio, NY (near Wellsville). Our remaining 3 grandchildren could not join us because of other commitments. Our meeting place was the Buffalo Museum of Science. I had mentioned I would like to see the exhibit that was going on there: Mummies Of the World. So that was the first wish on our list that came true. Our family didn't blink
Our Children
Lory, Kim, Cory & Tim when I mentioned wanting to see these dead people.....in the past, we have dragged them through the Smithsonian Medical Museum and similar, so it all seemed logical. The exhibit was very good. Fascinating to view such ancient remains in such well preserved conditions. There were animals besides people that were mummified. We didn't feel so old after going through the exhibit. The remains we saw were really OLD! At the exit, a TV team was there making a National commercial about the exhibit. Tim & Conner were selected, then Rachael, followed by Lory, Kim & myself. Whether we will actually show up sometime when you are casually watching TV....time will tell....fingers crossed. If you see any of us...let me know so we can make plans for being famous and signing autographs. "You knew us when"....we will stay humble and the same, though. Don't worry. Following this exciting experience, we traveled as a caravan to our next destination: the famous Anchor Bar Restaurant. This is where the ORIGINAL Chicken Wing got its start: thus, Buffalo Chicken Wings. It is located on Main Street, Buffalo....almost downtown. It is a festive place inside with many varied artifacts (license plates & motorcycles) all over
Our Grandchildren
Rachael, Fox, Haley, Shenen, Sara, Conner the place. We ordered 100 chicken wings at various HOT levels as well as many other delicacies that were thoroughly enjoyed by this happy group. Cory got Beef n' Weck which he said was the best ever. At the end of the meal, the waitress brought a birthday treat to Tim & Fox since their birthdays were being celebrated also. Much younger than our 70 years! Such a celebration day it was! Our next wish-list destination was the Buffalo Zoo. Lory & Jay left our group at this point because Ryan had his High School Prom that evening. Sara stayed with us. When we were first married, Cory & I lived in Buffalo, remember? We took our daughters to the Buffalo Zoo quite frequently. Cory & Tim had not been born at this time. We had no money and back then, the zoo was free or maybe a $1.00 admission at most. It was a fun time with no expense. We would push them in their stroller through the entire park, loving every second spent. Our visit to the zoo on this day brought back those memories as we watched the couples pushing their children around in their strollers. Fifty

(B) Tim & Jay years has made a big difference. Even though the zoo didn't seem quite as huge and awesome, I got weary near the end and couldn't go around the entire park anymore. Instead, I enjoyed a respite on a bench watching the families pass by. Oh, to be young again. They say you are only as old as you feel. I felt like 100! We were all pretty well worn out by the end of this wonderful day with our wonderful family. The Fabers headed home but we still had one more destination to go. Cory (son) suggested going to Niagara a Falls since we were so close. The depleted caravan continued on. Tim & Conner and Cory, Rachael, Fox and Shenen walked down to see the Falls. Cory & I waited for them in the tourist center on the grounds. We had been to the Falls two years ago and figured they hadn't changed that much. They were happy to have the chance to view this Wonder of the World. Our day of fun and frolic had come to an end. It had been a truly wonderful day. All the places we visited, we certainly enjoyed. But really what made
Conner
At The Mummies of the World exhibit the day special for us was being able to spend it together with our family. This is always at the top of our wish list. We relish these times together. My mother always use to say "we traveled like the boat people"......so as our grand family moved along together en masse, I look at all them and felt so proud. Look what 50/70 years have brought. Cory and I are so blessed to have such a wonderful family. A day of dead people, chicken wings, zoo animals and water falls.....what memories to cherish. We are forever grateful to our family for this special celebratory day. A wonderful day with our wonderful family! Our family is the most important thing to us in the world. Happy Days to you and yours! Hoping all of you have been warm and well as the seasons have changed and summer approaches.
