New York City
The Lobby of the Empire State Building Today I was exploring the big city on my own. Amy had gone to spend some time with Rachael and Alison so I decided to take a visit to the Empire State Building. It's the tallest building in New York City and I had to check out the observation deck while I was here. I woke quite early and took the subway downtown and arrived at the Empire State Building around 10:30AM. I took a few pictures from the street, trying hard to get the whole massive building in shot. The lobby was extremely impressive and very familiar, I’ve obviously seen it in movies or television before. I was so excited that I was standing inside the Empire State Building, one of the most famous buildings in the world and soon I’ll be on the top of it. So off I went to once again line up in a massive queue going through security, it took around an hour before I bought my ticket and was on the way up to the top. Wow what a view, just incredible, I went picture mad, along with everyone else who was up there. I could see the entire downtown Manhattan including the Statue

Downtown Manhattan view from the Empire State Building of Liberty it was one of the best sights I have seen in my life. I was also lucky enough to see King Kong saying hello to all the crazy tourists trying to meet him.
On one side I could see entire downtown Manhattan on the other, the huge Central Park surrounded in skyscrapers which looked so small from the tallest building in New York. I also had a fantastic view of the Chrysler Building, which was quite difficult to see from the Rockefeller Centre. I had the best view of one of the best cities in the world, I was blown away. I headed back down to ground, still on a high and spent the next few hours wandering around taking pictures of New York City. I met up with Amy and decided to go check out a restaurant I’d heard about called "Serendipity 3" made famous in various movies. On the way I got some great photos of the steam coming out of the manhole covers that were scattered around, I thought it was so cool. It's understandable though, considering how hot it gets in the New York Subway stations. We eventually got there and realised that

View of Central Park from Empire State Building we'd have to wait a couple of hours for a table, it was an extremely popular place. After wondering if we should bother waiting around or not we decided not too and go for another super sundae in Dylan's Candy store down the road. It was good, once again but I still wanted to go to Serendipity 3 sometime while I was here.
After we enjoyed our Sundae it started pouring down outside, it was pissing down. We headed back to Amy's hostel and went to grab some pizza from a place round the corner. New York has such great pizza. It then started coming down even more, heavy, heavy rain. Had enough after that decided to make the wet walk back to my hostel and went to sleep.
