New York City
Close up of the Statue of Liberty Slept in a little longer today which was good because I needed to catch up on some extra sleep. Today I met up with Amy and caught the subway to downtown Manhattan to go see the Statue of Liberty. We arrived at the train station right at the tip of Manhattan and could see the statue in the distance already. There were loads of people around taking pictures from the station, I was one them, I couldn't believe I was actually staring at the Statue of Liberty. We walked around to the ferry to catch it to Liberty Island when I thought it was time to try my first New York hot dog, it was awesome. We eventually got the the ferry and there were so many people in a massive, massive queue that seemed to go on forever. We were astounded about how many people were lining up to goto Liberty Island. So Amy went to line up and I ran off to buy us tickets. Unfortunatly we couldn't get any free passes into the statue because they had all been booked out, which was very dissapointing but I suppose there wasn't much I could do now, I got the

The Statue of Liberty in the distance from downtown Manhattan tickets and went to find Amy. To our suprise the line moved quite quickly when they started boarding onto the ferry, we went through security and metal detectors and were on our way to Liberty Island.
After a short ferry ride with lots of good photo opportunities we arrived at Libery Island. the Island is only very small so there isn't all that much to do there execpt to take pictures up close, so that's exactly what we did. Got some great pictures of the statue and of New York City from her point of view. We stopped to have lunch as we were both starving then went to check out the gift shop. After spending some time checking out the souvineers we were ready to leave when a lady approached us offering us free tickets into the statue because she had to leave. We were wrapped, how lucky was that?! We took them, thanked her and headed off to line up to go inside the statue because we heard that it was quite a long wait to go through security. We heard right, we waiting about an hour and a half, just to get through a strict security

Waving goodbye to New York City as we head to Liberty Island search, going through metal and explosive detectors before we could enter the museum and climb up to the base. The museum was great, amazing how she was built so long ago and all the many different designs that they considered before they chose the one today. We then took a elevator up to the base where we were able to look up into the statue through a glass ceiling at her feet. From there we went outside and got some amazing pictures of New York City and also Liberty Island, we were so lucky to get these free passes from a complete stranger it was fantastic. We took the lift back down and decided we'd had enough and went to catch the ferry back to New York, getting more amazing pictures on the way back.
Later that evening we met up with Rachael and Alison and decided to goto the Rockefeller Centre Observation deck or 'Top of the Rock' which is situated on three different levels giving you an amazing view of New York City at night. We had amazing views around the city and got some incredible pictures at night. Times Square lit up like daylight and the
