The Big Apple

This was the starting point of our journey!
After a delay in Alex's flight and his parents kindly driving him another hour to the next closest airport we finally met after 3 months of being apart. We spent 3 days racing around the many sights of Manhattan and attempting to gather final supplies... and of course enjoying the food and shopping. We indulged in everything that we thought might be our last luxuries.

Times Square
We headed here straight after dropping our bags at the hotel.

Perhaps shopping on 5th ave. was more of a last indulgence for Ashley than Alex.

Sex and the City
Ashley was looking forward to going into Tiffany's but got an even better surprise when we arrived and found that they were shooting the sex and the city movie out front. We saw Sarah Jessica Parker!!!

Central Park
Nothing is more New York than having a hotdog in Central Park.

Mmmmm....Pizza
Our quest to find great pizza lead us to Little Italy and North America's first pizzeria. Much to Alex's disappointment it was so good that Ashley actually ate half.

The Feast of San Gennaro
We happened to stumble upon a street festival while in Little Italy.

Our bellies just aren't big enough
This was the ultimate torture for Alex. He was too full (can you beleive it) from the pizza to stop at any of the many, many amazing smelling stalls. There was so much to choose from...pizza, subs, sausages, veal, funnel cakes and even deep fried oreos.

Brooklyn Bridge
On our walk from Little Italy, through China town and towards the World Trade Center we passed the brooklyn bridge.

They are still clearing the debris.

NY Cheese cake
Ashley couldn't pass up the opportunity to get a slice of real New York Cheese cake.

Subway
After finally mastering the subway it was time for us to leave New York.
