Wow, Las Vegas has really changed since Angie was last here, and the traffic is horrendous but thanks to navigation in the car, no problems. We arrive at Bally's and ready to have some R&R. Francine is left at the door to register and Angie parks in the garage that is a distance away. Of course leaving the garage she ends up in the Paris hotel and finally does get herself turn around but in doing so gets to run into Teller of the famous magicians Penn and Teller.Angie tries to smile and look very pleasant, but to just remind you she has driven 5-6 hours fresh from getting off a mule ride with dirt and grimes covering her clothes.
We do shower and clean up a little and head out to explore the strip. We walk down to the Venetian and enjoy the luxury setting and check out the Flamingo but we are so tired it's time to hit the sack and the walk back seems to take for ever. (in the morning we do the same walk and see that it's really a very short walk. LOL)
First thing after sleeping in we search for a good
place to eat. We can't seem to find the White Castle we saw last night so we opt for Walburger's and even though the price was steep the food was very good. Francine was able to experience her first ever Sloppy Joe and Sweet Potato tots. Yummy for sure!
We try our luck at the slots and have some success but the playing is what's fun or so they say.
Walk, walk and more walking through some of the casinos especially the Caesar's Palace and the Bellagio which have fabulous decors.
The highlight of the strip is the Donny and Marie Show. The show was filled with pictures of them growing up on TV and home movies, it takes you back to when things were simpler and happier. Donny and Marie participated so much with the audience you really felt at home and they teased each other like any brother and sister would, also Donna was a little harsh on Marie. It was a great show to see.
Francine has some family business to attend to so Angie went to the pool in the afternoon and it was great to really relax on the whirlwind trip.
For dinner we once again searched for White Castles. Francine had to experience her last chance at having sliders. We both ate 4 of them and that was enough of an experience for Francine. Sitting next to us was a homeless man who had a white castle cup that he keep filling with booze from his bag. He asked if we could give him a burger. We did, and Francine told him to wait and she went and bought him a sack full of burgers and chicken sandwiches. He was so thankful. Not sure how he felt a few hours later when those sliders kick in, haha.
Two nights in Vegas is plenty for us and we are on the road again. We head of through the Badlands. Down below sea level and hot. Photos and back into the air conditioned car and then we are off.
We are excited to be driving on to the National Parks, Yosemite and Sequoia.
