Adam asked for a list. He received it. Francine gave Adam, Angie's son a list of things to see while in LA. He has dilligently tried to make sure she saw and did everything, then some. Not just one view of the Hollywood sign but several from around the city. Adam points out every little tidbit he's learned in his 21year residency here in LA. The list included: Hollywood, Mann's Chinese Theater, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hollywood ign, Hollywood Bowl, Dodgers baseball Game, shopping at It's a Wrap, Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive, Griffith Park, In and Out Burger, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Porto's Bakery... Then some of lesser known but still iconic LA experiences like traffic jams on the 5, massive crowds on the beaches and piers, Del Taco, Pinkberry Yogurt Bar, Bob's Big Boy Burgers ... read more

Driving from Nevada through the Tioga we have to drive through most of the park in order to see the primo sites of El Capitan and Half Dome and the waterfall. the drive is thrilling for Angie and she loves to drive fast and take the corners like Mario Andretti but Francine is holding on to the OH SHIT bar and using her non existent brake pedal on the passenger side. We scour the countryside for bears but no luck only see a few deer her and there. But the fresh air and the cooler temps at this altitude makes it a very pleasant drive overall and we picnic in the park along side a stream and hope this is not the time we spot bears. It's a 14 hour day as we drive to Fresno ... read more

Wow, Las Vegas has really changed since Angie was last here, and the traffic is horrendous but thanks to navigation in the car, no problems. We arrive at Bally's and ready to have some R&R. Francine is left at the door to register and Angie parks in the garage that is a distance away. Of course leaving the garage she ends up in the Paris hotel and finally does get herself turn around but in doing so gets to run into Teller of the famous magicians Penn and Teller.Angie tries to smile and look very pleasant, but to just remind you she has driven 5-6 hours fresh from getting off a mule ride with dirt and grimes covering her clothes. We do shower and clean up a little and head out to explore the strip. We ... read more

TEXAS San Antonio, the Alamo was first on our agenda. The chapel is just about the only remaining part of the entire fort but iconic and the story a legend. It was surprising to see so many countries represented in Texas's battle for independence. It's another scorcher, mate; around 105. So the next logical place to visit is the River Walk. It is a really nice area along a man made canal including canal boat rides. But the big draw is the shade trees and the coolness found next to the river. It is lined with restaurants and shops. We eat at a barbacue place but it's no where close to Memphis barbacue, Yummy. NEW MEXICO We leave San Antonio Texas on a 9 hour drive. More desert and oil and gas wells along the way. ... read more

The trip into Nola was hazardous rain on and off. Angie drove to the conditions. Francine only squealed once and held on tight to the OS bar. Traffic was backed up approaching the city and we needed a bathroom break, pulled off and getting back on required a u turn, but Angie was in a lane a and wanting to make a u turn and because of the hard rain didn't see the no u turn sign and flashing lights and a whooping siren from the police car behind her, alerted her to that fact. So we pulled over 3 lanes but the cop just went by us. Thank heavens the cop didn't want to write a ticket in a cloud burst. Our hotel Courtyard Marriott was on St. Charles Street just one block from the ... read more

Thur 7 July 2016. After leaving Nashville we head to Graceland Graceland Memphis Tennessee. (Now stop singing Paul Simon's song :) Graceland is a modest sized home. We toured the ground floor and basement room's and adjoining buidings of the home. Upstairs has been kept private. Then there were the trophy room, car collection, awards and concert outfits. Ornately decorated with the signature belt buckles. The tour was conducted by ipad and headphones giving an oratory by John Stamos and the Presley family includung recordings from Elvis. Very informative of the enternainer, family man and generous benefactors to many many charities and individuals. Of which he did not seek notice. We finished the tour at the burial plots of the Elvis, his parents and grandmother. Very moving, interesting, sad and a trip down memory lane for ... read more

Welcome to New York City. Monday, 27 June 2016 DAY 1 Francine arrived in NYC shortly before Angie and her sister Cindy. So she walked to the next terminal with her big and small wheely bags to meet them. On her way a nice shiney black car with a well dressed 50ish man pulled over to Francine. She thought he said " I'd like to ask for you" ??? Francine not hearing him properly, politely said "pardon". He repeated himself and said " i would love arse f***you. You'd love it". Francine shook her head in disbelief and walked double pace to the terminal. Wow what a first conversation with an American in USA. Once over the shock and meeting up with Angie and Cindy, the story was relayed to them. They were shocked and then ... read more

The city with the largest mall in the world and so many others within a relatively small area. but not so difficult a choice for us, all designer shops and way beyond our budgets for the most part. This is the final leg of our adventure and we are very weary and our bodies are feeling the stress we have subjected them to over the last month. Our first priority is getting to the hotel after a red eye flight from Livingston, Zimbabwe. We take the train to the marina area then grab a taxi to the hotel. We are too early for check in but just in time for the buffet breakfast. Yummy in all respects. We have very exclusive dinner reservations for this evening at the seven star hotel Burj al Arab. It's Angie's ... read more
