One word.... Chippendales!! Chris' sister, Amanda and I decided to really take in the sights of Las Vegas and see a Chippendale show... Yum is all Im going to see 😉 A very enjoyable evening and something I would definately recommend to all the girls out there.. the front row seats definately helped too 😉
The next day was extremely long, 17hours to be exact but very worthwhile. Chris and I were up at 5am to take a bus to to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. The bus ride to Hoover Dam took approximately an hour and requires a stop just before you enter the Dam for security to make sure there are no explosives on board! Hoover Dam took 5years to build, 2 years ahead of schedule and 8people died during its construction. This isn’t a large number when you consider the newest “city” that is being built on the Vegas strip has had 8deaths to date. I found this astoshing that in this day and age with modern technology and safety standards that this would happen.
After that, about a 2hour drive through the desert to stop for lunch before we hit the Grand Canyon, something
no one on board expected was the cold! We both had to buy a jumper (yes matching :P) before continuing on..Walking around the South Rim of the Canyon, we got to see the Canyon from two viewpoints. The second was a lodge where you can stay for the night before taking the 9mile hike down the canyon or the 5 1/2hour ride down on a mule. This would be fantastic I think and if I was ever at the Canyon again, I would definitely favour a mule ride to the bottom. The Canyon itself though appears never ending, to look down it from the top, you wouldn’t believe that there was actually a bottom.
The bus trip back had us back at the hotel by 11.30 and surprisingly neither of us were that tired so we hit the Monto Carlo Casino floor for some gambling. I sat down at a monopoly machine and I still have no idea what the purpose of it was, Chris then tried to explain how his favourite game worked which I understood a little better and managed to win a little money on before gambling it all away.
On our last day in
Vegas we decided to take it easy. We headed up to the Venetian which is currently the biggest hotel in the world with over 7000 rooms and took a gonola ride with a driver that had an incredibile singing voice but the most irritating accent I’ve heard to date. Our trip to Vegas was completed with a few leisurely hours by the pool, cocktail and book in hand. We were very surprised however when the pool closed at 6pm! So early, never have I heard of a resort pool closing so early, much to the disgust of many of its patrons.
The sights of the Grand Canyon need to be seen. Nothing I could say could do it justice, nor could the photos
