42hours after arriving at Perth Airport, we finally arrived... Viva Las Vegas! After one of the best flights both Chris and I have ever been on, was arrived in Auckland, our first stop on the trip to Vegas! 14hours was what we had in this city and after getting to our hotel and having a well deserved nap, we hit Aucklands main street, Queens Street, not a bad little place and while it gave us a taste of New Zealand we both left feeling like there was much much more of NZ we both wanted to check out.
The flight to San Fransisco bought a first for me. The first Air New Zealand flight Ive been on that was on time! So it was a good start to a 12hour flight which actually was not too bad.. Arriving in San Fran airport we had 3hours to clear immigration and customs and recheck our bags for the final leg to Vegas, after hearing horror stories of US Immigration this scared me a little, but the whole process, including me declaring a food item and having my bag xrayed took approximately 20mins.. Cant complain about that! What I can complain about is
the flight delay to Vegas which isnt what you want to hear after 40hours of travelling! However after a gate change, going back to the original gate and United Air finding a new aircraft we were finally on our way!
Arriving in Vegas, down the freeway was abit like "ok cool..." Stepping out onto the Strip was Like "oh my god" Neons, Neons and more Neons... Hotels/Casinos everywhere, cardflickers everywhere (I maintain they would have more like if they were hot chicks like the girls they were trying to sell) hehe. Every hotel has its on sort of theme and I must say, I reckon I like the Excalibur the most! Its castle stands out more, at night and during the day than any other..
Things to do in Vegas, the M&M store. Omg! Even if you dont buy chocolate which I didnt, its incredible, 4stories of Merchandise.. Gotta love it! The Bellagio foundations, beautiful, and my first Vegas show "Jubiliee" A traditional Vegas showgirl show.. Very impressive..
The Neon Night Tour took us past many of the sights of the Strip and included some interesting facts, such as that the Riveria casino has the most light
globes of any Las Vegas casino and if you stretched them out, they would reach all the way from Vegas to New York City! I was expecting that they would stretch all the way to LA which would’ve been impressive enough but no, all the way across the country to New York! A number of hotels that are being built on the outskirts of the Strip have had their progress staled by the financial crisis and now the people of Las Vegas are just waiting to see if these properties will find the money that they need to finish construction.
Two things not so great, the fact that Im sick and both of us are yet to get used to the 15hour time difference, going to sleep at 4am because you cant sleep and not because you're out partying sucks...
tomorrow night though, Chippendales 😉
