Woke up in some confusion as I couldn't hear anyone else in the room. Than I realized I was in my friends Kelsey's apartment on her pull out couch. I was confused because I was so used to other people in the room. I woke up before Kelsey and did some blogging before she woke up. I looked out the window for a little while and admired the view of the Missouri river. It looked like a good place to go for a run in the morning even thought it looked cold.
Kelsey woke up and we chatted for a bit before she went off to her work as a nanny. We would meet up for lunch later that day. I had no real plans for that day so I went out that morning and did some organizing of my clothes and souvenirs. I did some wandering around the neighborhood before grabbing a bagel at a coffee. I did some more writing back at Kelsey's apartment and reflected on my trip. It was my first downtime of this trip and I appreciated being able to rest for a day.
Kelsey got back from her nanny job for lunch and we went out to Joe's BBQ for lunch. We got there just in time because shortly after we got there the line went right out the door. Joe's BBQ is a famous BBQ shop in Kansas City and Kelsey recommended the Z man sandwich which is pork or beef on a Kaiser with provolone cheese and onion rings. It is a delicious sandwich and I appreciated Kelsey recommending the place and the sandwich. Out of appreciation for everything I paid for lunch as well. The sandwich was not that big but I had a lot of trouble finishing it. I guess my stomach has shrunk a lot since my trip started.
After that Kelsey was back at work and after thinking it over I decided to see a movie. I went over to the neighborhood movie theater. I looked over the movies and opted for the movie Kingsman. It was the middle of the day on a weekday so the theater was not that crowded.
Kingsman is a secret agent movie involving a young man who is being recruited into the Kingsman organization which is a secret organization of agents that is centuries old. They attempt to stop an evil villain bent on destroying the world by sending signals through cellphones to drive people crazy and kill each other. This is done to depopulate the world so only some chosen people are left alive. The villain is played by Samuel L Jackson who does a fabulous job. The hero saves the world and all the villains have their heads blown up. I will say this movie is a juvenile version of James Bond. The ending was not well thought out. I will leave to everyone else to decide if they like it or not.
After the movie I went back to Kelsey's apartment and got there shortly before Kelsey got back. She had an evening class where is she learning to become a teacher. I took the opportunity to catch up on my sleep. I was running a huge sleep deficit at this point and I had a long drive tomorrow morning. I slept into the evening and woke up not long before Kelsey got back around 9pm. Once she was back we went out with a few of her friends for dinner. The place we went to was a flea market/bar that served burgers as a specialty. It was a good burger I had but I can't say I was blown away by it. The beer was good thought but I would have liked it with some more flavor. The bar was having a trivia night where tables got to compete to answer questions on a variety of topics. I wished we had participated because between the people at our table we had all the answers. After dinner we retired back her apartment and after chatting for a bit it was time to sleep.
Tomorrow I will be heading home. I am only 16 hours and 1600km from home.
