The State House
Pretty dull inside really I arrived in Boston later than planned, my flight from Newcastle to Heathrow was about an hour late arriving because of the "weather", but the plane flew right over central London so i managed to spot a whole host of famous landmarks (Parliment, Big Ben, That big white wheel thing, the new Wembley and also Arsenals new stadium), when we finally landed after about 45 minutes of circling above Heathrow there was a mad dash to the connecting flights area and a short bus ride to Terminal 4 where we discovered that our flight that was meant to be leaving at 4.30pm didn't even have a gate assigned to it yet! And when we all did board about an hour or so later we didnt actually take off for another 45 minutes because air traffic control "couldn't find a space for us".
The flight itself was a satisfactory because i'd managed to get myself some extra leg room, i watched the latest X-Men movie, some World Cup highlights and a bit of that Cars cartoon film on the way , but couldnt fall asleep so when i arrived in Boston i was buggered, anyway i was stood at the baggage
Inside the State House
This really was the only interesting part, and its not interesting! belt half asleep waiting for my bag when i heard my name called out to go see the british airways woman, it turned out my bag was actually just leaving the UK, i was too tired to care to be honest and i cared even less when they gave me a credit card with $50 on it to say sorry and assured me it would be delivered to the Hostel the next morning - and it was, so thank you British Airways for your excellent customer service and the pair of jeans you bought me!
Got a taxi to the hostel, didn't fancy negotiating the subway at 10pm at night, alone, and without my bullet proof vest. The hostel wasn't really up to much, the bed was comfy, but the room had a bit of a bad ass smell to it, the people i met there were nice enough but there was just something a bit crap about the place.
I went straight to bed that first night, i woke up feeling great on Monday morning and hung around for my bag which came about half 10, ended up doing the Freedom trail with a french guy from
Paul Revere's house
He played a big part in the revoloution! the hostel, it took most of the day (the Freedom trail is just a red line through the city that takes you past all the major things connected to the revoloution and countless boring museams), went for exactly 2 beers with an english guy that night then went to bed. On my second day there i went exploring alone and went to the Aquarium, had a cruise around the harbour, had a free tour around an old WW2 ship docked in the harbour and went to the top of a bloody big tower to take some pics, didnt get back til late so just hung around there all night.
On Wednesday i was up bright and early and managed to walk about 2 miles to the bus terminal with my backpack on, hard work actually. I got the Lucky Star chinatown bus down to New York for a bargain $15, and it only took 3 and a half hours, so here i am in New York... but thats another story for another blog!
All in all i'd say Boston is ok for a maximum of 2 days, not very much to do, but its nice enough.
