Well we are in love with New Orleans!
We started off our day visiting Jackson Square which is full of street artists with their artwork on display, supposed “fortune tellers” and queues of horses and carriages. All of the paintings were cool and funky but one artist’s work caught Scotty’s eye. Despite liking a lot of her pieces he had to settle for a smaller one that would fit in the backpack!
We’ve been seeing “Po Boys” advertised in restaurants everywhere and wondered what they were. Well we had one each for lunch and they are a 10” long, 3” high sandwich; definitely filled us up!
Just like at Venice Beach there are so many quirky and unique things we want to buy but won’t be able to bring home! Although one stall had loads of little bracelet charms that Annie loved! There were too many to choose from but in the end she opted for a little mask that represents New Orleans to add to her charm collection 😊
Another place where we had to resist buying was the Bubba Gump shop which had tons of things Forrest Gump related; everything with all of his infamous
sayings on them.
After a dip in the hotel pool we headed out for some tea. Everywhere is pretty pricey in the French Quarter (for our budget anyway). We figured if we were going to pay a lot we may as well eat at the Hard Rock Café 😊
On our stroll back we passed the statue of Jesus behind St Louis’ Cathedral which is reflected onto the walls. It kind of made him look like a fat man-maybe he’d eaten too much American food…
One more day here before we make the 15 hour bus journey to Orlando. Let’s hope Hurricane Isaac stays away from the theme parks!!

Are you sure that was the Jesus statue shadow and not yours po boy ! Orleans looks amazing guys. I never did get there but hey who knows maybe 1 day xx
