Yo
So far so good in the heading home department. Weather hot and muggy when we left, both on Fri and the early part of Saturday. No much rain , fortunately. Fri nite we stopped just before Atlanta; that enabled us to go thru Atlanta early STy am and at that it was busy enough. It gets to be like a parking lot as you progress into Atlanta and we were doing bumper to bumper at 2:30 fri aft and e4ached our stop at McDonaugh as planned at 3pm; But that's Atlanta on fri aft!!
On SAt we went from 7:20 til 3:30. Gorgeous day mainly.; we ran into rain, lightning , thunder in the aft in Kentucky so pulled off and we were in Berea where there is a fine Artisan shop. the stuff there is always beautiful but bring your pocketbook! One local artist, Fred Wiesener, was doing incredible ceramics. And of course, there is always a few handmade instruments there. When we left the storm had moved east. The other interesting stop we made in the morning was at Krogers, a grocery store, in Dalton Ga.I wanted more of the heel balm cream that i got going south there. That store is huge; everything is clean and spotless and colourful. It could easily be a reason to have a place nearby! R got beer, 6 cans @ 4.69 I think and they were 18 oz. His back is holding up well , all things considered.Today we should make it to Lansing and then go over to Elderly Guitars Mon a m to get the guitar he left there for repairs.Summer weather has disappeared now; and the early buds on trees here show spring coming alive in Kentucky. We passed several "well off" horse farms and found out where to go for a bourbon tour! By Mon nite we'll stay in Northern Michigan, likely in Ignace. and cross the border early Tues am and home in the early aft of Apr 12. The trip north has flown by. This Super 8 in Dry Ridge is very nice and our lowest price so far (37.99 + tax= 41.88).The continental breakfast is open now so I'll get some orange juice and maybe a waffle. Last night's dinner at the Cracker Barrel was good:catfish, breaded okra and sauerkraut and corn bread. Look up this author:TC Boyle; he was a riot on NPR radio yesterday. And Paul Simon has a new Cd ou which is getting good reviews (So beautiful?)
Later all....thanks for making the journey with us. IJ & R
