Chicago
On the boat Chicago... Chicago... was not at all what any of us expected. For one, the city seems so clean! It is so shinny and city like yet there are so many trees and parks and I know we didn't find every area there was to find... but we did a pretty good job at seeing as much as we could. When we first landed we did a river boat tour which was really interesting to learn about the architecture and just see the city. We then did a lot of walking and found some cool parks, the lake, and lake/beach, and a few universities. We saw Lookinglass Alice at the Lookinglass Theatre and it was FANTASTIC! Think alice in wonderland mixed with cirque d' sole and an acid trip. I must be honest and say I didn't quite understand it all but I really enjoyed it. Adam and I discovered Millenium Park which was a beautiful place to walk and take pictures. The second day in Chicago we found my dad in the lobby for free coffee (I was psyched) and took him to the park to walk around again. So peaceful. Then Adam and I were wondering again and came across

On the boat! the Chicago Theatre and discovered that a tour was about to start. We first went to a restuarant called Potbelly's where Adam had a sandwhich he really enjoyed and then we went back to the Chicago Theatre for the tour. What an amazing theatre. So beautiful and ornate. There was a moment when walking out on the upper balcony and looking up that everyone on the tour all said "wow" at the same time. An amazing theatre! Then we met back up with my parents and brother Adam to go to Mike Dikta's where we met Dana Tretta for lunch. Good Times. We did a lot more walking and eventually found the place that I think was Adam's favorite because he had a Chicago Dog. He talked about getting one for weeks before we went and has actually considered replacing his famous "Beer Dogs" with "Chicago Dogs." We'll see what happens when football season rolls around. (I'm so glad I don't eat those things!) Later that night my parents, bro Adam, Adam and I went to Second City. What a treat! So funny. Great talent. It was great to really see Bro Adam and my Dad laughing at theatre!!!! I

Still on the Boat! love that Chicago truly has such great theatre. I had heard about it, but witnessing it first hand, I love it. I would defintely go back again and again. Then after that, we walked and walked. Curt (Adam's dad, who was in town on business) was somewhere... and we were trying to find him....We knew he was at fish or frog bar... When we finally found him, he was not at a fish or frog bar, but a piano bar. Adam's friend Brain met us. Great fun! There was dancing, singing, talking, laughing. Then we realized that we hadn't eaten since lunch... uh oh! So we found another cool spot and shared some appetizers. It turned midnight and I became 30! AHHHH! It's cool. So for my b-day we went to a Cubs game thanks to Adam's Uncle Brent who hooked us up with FANTASTIC SEATS! What a cool stadium. We were under cover, so we didn't sweat or burn in the sun! My mom liked that! But... since we were in the shade and there was such a cool breeze we all actually sat in the seats the entire time which is rare for all of us! The Cubs

Cruisin' didn't win but I wore my hat with pride! After the game we realxed a bit and then went to dinner at the oldest Italian restaurant in Chicago. Tasty! Good conversation and wine... of course! We all went back to the hotel. Adam and I packed our bags and we left the next day. What a fantastic family trip to a new city. Thanks mom and dad!!!!
