10am: Akshay and I explore the beach while the others still snore. The seagulls dont seem too excited to see us there. Had a quick round of Daytona racing in the arcade room before heading back up to the room

12noon: Breakfast in the van today. We decide to buy some cereal and milk from CVS. Sanak and I find a Wii console, Neha and Dhiraj find that its not a good idea to leave us unattended for even 5 mins

Highlights of the drive:
- Sanak finally finds a post office to mail the letters he has been carrying since Chicago. The letters have had a road trip of their own before finding their way into a postbox 2000 miles away from home
- Neha manages to confuse everyone for a while by looking up the wrong directions and still thinking that she is right

2pm: We reach Charleston. our first real sightseeing stop on this trip

History break here - Charleston with its rich heritage occupies pride of place in American history, given its role during both the American Revolution as well as the Civil War. During the revolution, Charleston was twice the focus of British attacks. The American defeat here in 1780 was its biggest defeat during the war. And in 1860 South Carolina became the first state to ever secede from the Union and the first shots of the American Civil War were fired here in Charleston's harbor.

3pm: We start on a lazy walk around the hisoric district taking in the sights of quaint old pretty buildings. Among the many reasons for Charleston's appeal is the historic architecture of its downtown neighborhoods. Several examples of fine Georgian, Federal, Greek Revival, Italianate, and Victorian homes in the neighborhood. We take our time soaking up the colors and culture

6pm: We start the onward ourney to Savannah, our pitstop for Day 04 of the trip. Savannah is a (relatively) short 3 hour drive from Charleston. This time, no speed ticket for Dhiraj. We find a room at the Marriott, head out for dinner and soon realize that theres only one restaurant open at 10 in the night.

11pm: Hobo-search begins. The portions were too big for all of us, and we decide that rather than waste the food we will give away the leftovers to the first homeless person we find. We drive around for several books looking for our friendly neighborhood hobo without getting mugged. Ideas explored included letting sanak loose in a dark lonely alley without his wallet and just the food. Anyway, after several futile attempts, we decide that giving the food to Akshay is a better option. Where are the hobos when you need them?!?

2am: American Pie just ended and South Park is starting up on Comedy Central TV
