One in a Million
Wagons Ho...Roll on! Saturday in Florida is always a good flea market day so that is where we went. The Wagon Wheel/Mustang Flea Market is located in Pinellas Park. A couple years ago we stayed in this area (Madeira Beach) and frequented this market every Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday. It was like coming home again. It's a good size market with an area for junky yard sale collectibles (mostly junk), a million new China imports and rows after rows of assorted produce section. I love the produce section best because it feels like we have entered into another country. Masses of Asian folks are milling around, bartering in their own language and buying peculiar looking weeds, roots, vegetables and fish. Fish heads are sold separately so a little woman is seen flailing her machete on fish after fish inside her worn-out van parked on the site. Blood drips everywhere from the red splatted open side door. Cory moans.....my reminder that "we are sucking up the local culture" keeps him quickly moving. This same activity went on when we were here before...nothing has changed...I love it! I was able to identify parsley....that was about it. I wonder what they do with all

this intriguing stuff. When shopping for fish, you are supposed to check for clear eyes. How do you do that if the fish has no head? We bought nothing. Surprise. Lulu managed to find some playmates...she's such a a friendly sort. We must have walked 323 miles. I wondered if I would even make it back to the car. Fortunately, my cart has a fold down seat so I could rest every 35 miles...it only took us 10 hours to get to the car. Next stop: the water..a.k.a The Gulf of Mexico. The salty sea beckoned us. Lulu ran to the edge wishing she could dip her toes. It was windy & cold so a quick look was sufficient. We located a familiar entertainer (he used to sing at the Wagon Wheel) at one of the local open beach bars but because it started raining, his wasn't performing. Too bad...we left. I have his tape so that will suffice. Late lunch/Early supper was at Crabby Bill's on St.Petersburg Beach. Grouper for Cory. Shrimp Gumbo for me. Our day ended at an Antique Shop. Perfecto! Our RV remains unchanged....remember we are now in a holding pattern until Presidents Day.
