just behind Marco Island
We have enjoyed great weather during the past few weeks and have been lucky to have had access to some excellent beaches.

The anchorage just north of Marco Island reminded us of a long weekend at Sauble (in the summer of course!) - but instead of cars on the beach, here it was boats - literally - rammed up at full throttle. A TowBoat US lurked nearby to pull off those who proved to have been overzealous. At dusk all the weekend warriors raced for home leaving us to enjoy the beautiful sunset, the dolphins cruising by and pelicans crashing into the water for their evening meal.

Peter, aboard his trawler "Transition" has been our buddy boat since Marathon - the other evening we enjoyed a dvd of a Moody Blues concert at full blast, that would have drained our batteries in 5 minutes!

Old Naples is dripping with money - the annual taxes on one place we saw were $57 000! - a beachfront lot - no house!

After 4 months aboard we have learned how to find anchorages to allow us to get to grocery stores and fresh water supplies - marinas are expensive (but
when in Florida...when in Florida...when in Florida...

what happened to "Trespassers will be prosecuted?"
a definite treat when we do go into one).

We're on a mooring ball now at Fort Myers Beach, Estero Island - and must soon begin plans to haul Gust O'Wind out for the summer - there are a few more attractive anchorages not far north from here that we would like to get to before the season ends for this year.

we watched this 4' iguana swim from the mangroves, climb the ladder on the boat moored behind us, sun himself in the cockpit for 30 minutes then swim calmly off! Glad we didn't meet him in our cockpit!
