This is a sonopsis of what has happened is the last several days.
On Jan 28th I was lucky enough to have company. My cousin Dave and his wife Nancy Mallon from Indianapolis, Indiana were in FL and heard I wasn't too far away so they came to visit me. It just so happened that it was the same day that my sister Denise was coming to spend several days with me. We all met at the campground and went out for a leisurly lunch and had a terrific visit.
After lunch, Dave and Nancy continued their tripand Dee and I went back to the camper to settle in and let Oscar know his Auntie was here. He was So excited. We had cocktails with my friends, Ginnie, Kat and Kim then went out for a late dinner at that resturant that has $14.95 lobster on Wed night. Dee loved it and we headed back for a good night's sleep.
Thursday found the weather beautiful and Dee wouldn't get out of her chair. She sat in the warm sun, knitted and just relaxed. Later that afternoon we went to Camping World, a camping supply store, and I
bought a folding bike. My back has been bothering me so I thought some exercise on a bike was a good idea. I got the red one! It took a little getting used to but I feel more comfortable now.
Again cocktails with the ladies then a dinner cooked on the grill.
Friday found us going to Sea World where we saw the Orca show, the Dolphin show, baby dolphins, sting rays, flamingos and lots of people. It's always a magical place, I love going there.
Saturday Dee and I served oatmeal pancakes and sausage for breakfast at 10 am at my campsite and it was warm enough to eat outside. We just continued the visiting most of the afternoon and we were joined by other campers. Such a nice time.
Late in the afternoon, Dee and I went to see a hotel that Dee's husband had booked an outing. On inspection we determined the hotel is perfect for the event but we needed to sample the food. So we stayed for dinner, Dee having grouper, I had salmon which was the 2nd best salmon I have ever had. The first was in Portland,
OR.
Sunday was the day for Dee to head home so the trip to the airport was early. Sad to see her go. When I got back to camp we all got in one car and headed back to Sea World. Bindy Erwin was appearing in a conservation program and we wanted to see her. She is the daughter of Steve Erwin who was a conservationist that was killed by a sting ray. She is now 16 and just as cute as a button. After the program we went to see the baby manatees that have been rescued and will be reintroduced into the wild when they reach a certain weight. Beautiful day to be in the park and we enjoyed the flowers and the general scenery.
Monday I spent some time taking pictures of our local sandhill crane that just loved my yard. He is there all the time. A man in the camper near mine came and fed him some bread right out of his hand. I guess they are really used to humans. There was also a sighting of 2 coyotes in the campground early in the morning. Now everyone with a small
dog is panicked. There are wild things in the campground, pigmy rattlesnakes, coyotes, sandhill cranes and the old rv driver. They back into water lines, go the wrong way on a one way street, cut corners and hit trees, and drive on the wrong side of the road and walk down the middle of the road. It's fun just watching it all.
Tuesday we got up early to wish Kat a safe trip. She was heading to a LoWs campout then on to New Orleans for a group outing at Mardi Gras. Should be lots of fun.
In the afternoon Ginnie and I went to the movies, popcorn and all, to see Wild. I have been wanting to see it for some time but couldn't find it in a theater. It was very enjoyable, very thought provoking.
That catches us up to the present, where I will continue tomorrow.
