coach mari
mari,my sister, is a softball coach. we were at her field. princeton, mn whats up? i don't even know what to say. i can't believe i am at the end of the road. i just started doing real world things again. i put on the work clothes for the first time in 11 months which was pretty crazy...
i think the last time i blogged i told you that i was going to be doing a little tour of the states. well after 24 hours of traveling from madrid spain to sacramento california, i made it to my good friends wedding (pat mccusker). i had a lil too much fun on friday night as my friends would be able to tell you and still can't believe that one of my good friends is married! sacramento is a pretty chill town...reminds me a lot of louisville!
i was definitely in culture shock when i got back into the states. the houses, the people, the cars, the amount of food on every plate at a restaurant. i couldn't finish all of my food almost at every meal!!! it is a feeling that is so hard to explain. it is like it is good to be home, but at the same time you know that there is
bowling
went bowling with my cousins chase and cody. they killed me! something else out there calling you to do...only the people that hvae left for an extended time and then come back know what i am talking about.
so i made it to san fransico and stayed with my friend carmen san diego...had lunch with todd kilpatrick (another world traveler...pre 9/11 as he always likes to put it). also met up with juliawho i met in chiang mai thailand...a lot of fun. from san fran i took a flight down to see gary my other good friend and jay his roommate. he has a sick place in the gas lamp district. i think everybody who has been to san diego feels like they need to move there after they have been there. i crashed at his place for a week...made it to the zoo, tijuana mexico, chinese theatre in la, and had dinner with amy skirnik in newport beach. i also had my bday there. hayden and josh witt came down from la to meet us at pacific beach for the day and then we all went to a club at night...had a lil bottle service.
the first day i got into sd gary and i had lunch at pacific beach.
game time
jason white and i went with my parents to an icubs baseball game. rained out in the 2nd inning! we were sitting there and i looked out to the beach and saw some guy carrying a surf board. ( i don't know anybody in san diego). i told gary i knew him and i had to go saw whats up...i asked the guy if he was in mar del plata, argentina in january...he was like yea, its geronimo...he was at the same quicksilver guest house as me and other people...some world!!
from there the trip took me out to des moines iowa!! my parents live there and i stayed there two weeks. on the way back from chicago we stopped at the worlds biggest truck stop on i-80. a highlight on everybody's trip i am sure...i went up to my sisters house for the first time in princeton minn. it was a good trip...we biked around her lil town! i also went tothe iowa state fair. if you like people watching this is the place to come...iowans come in all shapes and sizes, colors, hair do's....the highlight of the state fair is the butter cow! a life size cow made out of butter. if you have never heard about it now you have!! i had not been to the
biggest cow
this was like the biggest cow ever. like almost 3000 pounds! statefair in like 10 years. another highlight is eating! it has the best food. it also has everything you have ever wanted to eat on a stick. hot dog on a stick, turkey leg on a stick, i couldn't believe it but a snickers or a twinkie on a stick...fried. it was so good to see my parents. i had a flight out of chicago so my parents drove me there and i stayed with lynny in lincoln park. we went to the beach for the day and then met up with olivia and jonathan, and wheelerthey were at a martini bar and i couldn't get in because i was wearing my chuck taylors!! its all good. for the last flight i had i pulled another all nighter and went straight to the airport from the bar...never too good of an idea. i made it back to dc....see pong picked me up...it was really crazy headed down the gw parkway!
i thought my trip was over but i had eugenia from argentina come and visit. we went all over dc ( a trip into the white house thanks to caleb graves!) baltimore, philly (stayed with my cousin), and nyc.....
thats
butter cow
and of course the butter cow! it! i'm done. my trips over. not sure what i am going to be doing now? i think the "business" but i am still not sure where i want to live. i want to stay by the beach...i am in dc for the fall so if anybody comes through let me know. i still have the same email tmalloy82@gmail.com . send me an email.
if anybody is thinking about traveling...just do it. don't wait. it is too much fun. if you are like jason netherton....dont go to asia. keep it safe and go anywhere but asia.
