Edit Blog Post
Hey y'all, cocksy here.
once again, its been a while for a blog, but god the internet is hard to find over here. its all "wi-fi" and everyone carrys a laptop, so there's no need for the actual internet cafe's, so we struggle to find them. But anyway, here at last, so here goes.
We left you last with the san fran update. We then moved on to the mind blowing "yosemite national park". WOW, what a place. we thought NZ was beautiful, and everywhere else, but this place was by far the prettiest, most jaw-dropping scenery we've ever seen. We spent 2 days exploring the park, and really enjoyed it. The first place we visited was an old gold mining town, called Bodie. In the late 1800's the town was buzzing with the gold mining industry, but when the gold dried up, the whole town just upped and left, leaving the ghost town behind. There were even peoples clothes, cups, and empty bottles in the houses. we walked around the old town, which just looked like something out of the movies, it was great to see. Its so funny to see what type of houses they used to
live in etc, and to see them in such a natural, preserved state.
we were actually staying in a motel, in a ski resort town (obviously its summer now, so no snow), so we spend an afternoon taking the cable cars up the mountains, to the great look outs. as the snow was long gone, the grassy slopes are used by 100's of mountain bikers, and hikers, and the views were lovely. obviously we didn't do any hiking with my foot, but we road the gondolas up the mountains and enjoyed the sights. its really given me the bug to go snowboarding again though, seeing the ski resort.
The next day, we got up early and spent a full day exploring in and around the parks main area, Yosemite Valley. Heres where all the amazing waterfalls are, the glacier point look out and all the beautiful scenery. On the way across to the valley in the morning we saw wild deer roaming an open meadow, and further down the road, WILD BEARS!!!!!!!! We stopped the car, and saw deep in the woods a mother bear and 2 of her baby cubs. They were super cute, and we watched
them from afar for a while. Its so amazing when you see these animals in their natural habitat. WOW. Soph thinks they are so cute, she loves bears, i would not like to go near one, that is for sure!
We next explored the valley floor and walked to a couple of beautiful waterfalls. the falls form every summer when the ice from the mountains thaws out, so they were still rushing with water, and the walks were just right for my foot. Glacier point was an amazing place. we drove up the winding mountains for about an hour, but the views were werth it. we sat up there looking down into the valley below for about an hour, just staring. it was so nice. you could see all the various falls, the river, forests etc. as you can see from the photos it was awesome. we forgot to mention that the national park is about 10000 feet above sea level. great views through out the park, we kept stopping every 5 minutes to admire the sights below.
the foot by the way we think is now mended, i am going to a hospital this week to see
what they say, we just wanted to leave it as long as we could so that, hopefully they say" yes all is good with it now" but it has not been too much of a problem, as the boot is class as i can still walk about, and can shower without the hassle of a cast.
So yosemite was so nice, we had a few nice days there. It was all ended with an amazing concert, of course. COLDPLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we had a great view, a bit further back than we thought, but still we got tickets and it was great. They are really good, and the americans can really create an atmosphere, we loved every minute.
off next we stayed a night in santa barbara, a rich town full of rich people and their rich cars, makes us sick!!!!!!! so a nice walk around that place, but that was it as we were heading back to LA for a week to go to the beach and basically do not much until death valley and vegas. we leave here on wed and off we head to death valley, which is another national park nearer to nevada. it will be
really hot hot hot there as it is below sea level.
then we head off to VEGAS, yes cannot wait. such fun to be had. cannot wait to see mum dad hels and ash, and the barbara and tony. we will have fun in the casinos and doing all what people do in vegas. Maybe an elvis wedding will be held. ha ha would love to see one.
well off for now. love to you all, and see you in about 3 weeks, aaaaaaaaaaaaggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
cocko and sophs. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Your time is going so quickly now
Hi you two, hope all is well with you both. Just read the last two blog up dates and smiled to myself again. The birthday one is lovely and appriecated by the birthday people im sure. It is so difficult to remember everyones birthdays but you have done a fantastic job remembering the ones you have, and those you've left out will forgive you both i'm sure. The blog on Yosemity had great photos, it did look like a wonderfull place to visit if only once in a lifetime. Then the coldplay concert was awsome as ever. Wonder if we will see anyone in vegas (only Cher is there to my knowledge) although there are plenty of free shows to see, which will keep us occupied i'm sure. As for a national park there is always the Grand Canyon that is a must see i've been told. Hope you have really chilled out this last week and relaxed on those Califorian beaches, as when you get to Vegas and New York your holiday will be a little on the manic side with so much to see and do in both places. We do have a pool in the hotel Paris so i expect you'll discover that soon enough when you need to cool down in the Arizona dessert heat. It all sounds wonderfull doesn't it we all can't wait, only 6 days to go now, and within a few minutes i feel sure it won't feel like we've not seen each other for 11 months. Enjoy your last few days in California, and take care driving to death valley, (the car looks just the job for that) make sure you have plenty of gas and water for the journey. Speak soon Love you lots and lots mum xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
