Wednesday 4th Jan we left Vegas at 9am, got to airport 2 hrs early for flight at 11.30am. Didn’t take long to get through so alot of waiting around. Arrived in San Fran at 1pm and waiting another hour and a half for our luggage and to get to our hotel. We finally arrived at our hotel, checked in and went for a walk.
The hotel looked very fancy with statues and marble but when we got up to our room it’s just your standard room. So we went for a walk and it took a block to find someone with a full set of teeth! I think we are in a dodgy area. But once we got passed that part all was fine! Had a look around there Westfield shops- 8 levels! But the levels are not very long as our Southland.
Then continued to walk around Union Square and found a massive Levi's store where I bought another pair of Levis for $19. Went into Macy's and had a look. Had some dinner and went back to hotel looking at the ground trying not to make eye contact with anyone. Got back and put the TV on
to find my favorite show Greys Anatomy on. It was season 3, (not in AUS yet) and it was great. The episode finished and lucky we didn’t change the channel it was a double episode- I was so excited. Anyway for those Greys Anatomy viewers out there- it gets good, real good.
Thursday 5th Jan we got up early to go on a tour of San Fran. Our tour guide Will was great. He is a professional surfer and was showing us pictures of him in a book surfing 50ft Maverick waves. Hes like that’s my mate on top and me down the bottom. He died on that wave, in fact I think he is dead there. We were like ok, no worries.
Anyway the tour took us to around the streets of San Fran. It is very build up here. Houses are two stories and have no space between them. They have fire escapes down them and there is no grass in site. There are heaps of hills here- very steep. You wouldn’t walk up them. That is why they have cable cars here- like trams but u just hang off it. We also saw the street
from Full House, saw the church Sister Act was filmed at, a few movie star homes
The first place we visited was twin peaks which is the top of San Fran. About 800 feet up or something. Great views here, see pictures. Got quite windy tho. Next stop was Pacific Beach which was nice. We then went to the Golden Gate Park which was really just a park. Next stop was what we were finally waiting for the Golden Gate Bridge. So we took plenty of photos and then went for a walk on the bridge up until the first pylon thing. It was pretty good.
Our tour finished at 3 and we were dropped at the pier to catch the ferry to Alcatraz but it was booked out for today so we will go tomorrow. We then continued to walk down and visited Pier 39. Restaurants and night life, had something to eat. Also found a heap of sea lions.
Continued to walk down to Fisherman’s Warf and looked in all the shops. Caught our tour bas back to our hotel. A cruisey night in tonight of watching TV. Today was my bday back home but
it’s only the 5th here right now so I will be celebrating my birthday tomorrow.
