View of the 'Hollywood' sign from a lookout point This is it. The last day of our massive 64 day trek around the United States of America, we couldn’t believe it was finally here. We all got up pretty early to sort some of our stuff out. We packed up our tents for the last time and packed the trailer once more before we were on our way. Jon gave us questionnaires to fill out on how we thought the trek went and how Jon’s performance and a trek leader was. We drove to Los Angeles, back to La Hacienda where the trek began 64 days ago. We had traveled over 12,000 miles around the entire country and were back in the hotel where it all started. When we arrived it was such a strange feeling being back, I don’t think any of us expected it to end. We dropped the trailer off at the hotel and took all our stuff out as we won’t have access to it anymore. We threw our luggage into room Jon had organised for us then headed back to the van for a day out in Los Angeles.

Walking down Hollywood Blvd then continued on to Hollywood Boulevard to have a look around and get some lunch. Hannah left the group to meet up with a friend and the rest of us went and got lunch at a typical American style diner. After lunch we walked down Hollywood Boulevard over the famous stars on the Walk of Fame. We stopped at the Kodak Theatre then again at Mann’s Chinese Theatre to take plenty of photos while we compared our hands to the famous hand of actors imprinted in the cement. We walked all the way down the Walk of Fame and finally met up with Jon who had parked the van just off the road. Hannah met back up with us and said goodbye to her friend then we all got in the van and headed for the Hollywood sign lookout point. We arrived at the lookout point and we all took lots of photos of the incredibly famous ‘Hollywood’ sign. Although it was good to see, it was exactly what you picture it as, maybe because we have all seen it that many times, it wasn’t all that exciting to see.

The Kodak Theatre on Hollywood Blvd final and thorough cleanout of the van. We threw out anything that we did no longer want, and finally took down all the crap we had pinned to the roof, it was strange to see it so completely bare. For the afternoon most people were sorting out their stuff and packing up getting ready to head back home tomorrow. Later that evening we got ready and met up at a strange looking diner down the road from the hotel. Since we were so close to the airport there wasn’t really much else around to go eat at, so we ended up going here quite a lot. We ordered some food and all bought drinks then sat chatting and eating our last meal together. After dinner it was time for Tina to leave, we all said our goodbyes and she left to catch a plane to China and continue her onward travels. Hannah and I left to go back to the hotel to do some much need laundry then we headed back to the bar and continued drinking on through the night. We returned to our hotel in the early hours of the morning and went to sleep.
