All of us
With cool slap bands! (Adding more photos tonight!!!)
So after walking down the entrance to the baggage collection at LAX, I walked through the doors and was thrilled to see the guys standing there. I was so pumped to see Molly, Kezza and Craig, gave them huge hugs and also met their roommate, Lisa. Sensational, I was actually shaking! Craig and Molly are the couple who got engaged recently and I was and am thrilled for them, to see two very good friends together like that ... well its pretty cool!
From LAX we headed back to the flat they are all sharing in the Valley (Valley Village to be precise, which is near North Hollywood). As it was late we just crashed all the while catching up on what has been happening and I was just finding it a relief to be in their company.
So with the girls working and Molly studying and working this left most of week for myself and Craig to hang out during the day (while he was supposedly working!!!). We checked out our new mate, Leonardo DiCaprio's movie, 'Blood Diamond' which was a very good film (with added applause at the end of the movie
Kev, Lisa, Me, Molly, Craig
Kerrie's brother, Kev. Lisa, who is the roomate of the girls and Craig. And then us other 3. from the American movie-goers). We also went to the baseball batting cages and hot a few rounds. The first lot were at 65 mph and then we tried out the 75mph, after a while I just played cricket shots as practice for when I got home, and also because the ball jarred so much while trying to smash the bejezus out of it!!
One morning we were sitting on the couch when a live car chase hit the screens. It was amazing to watch as they followed the car (OJ Simpson style) around the streets, as it swerved cars and finally cleaned up smashing in the side of a wall. The guy tried to get away from the cops who pulled him down. Great television.
I also met a few of Kerrie and Molly's friends, including Kristen and Maureen, who I didn't meet last time. After me and Craig started a few beers before the girls got home, we then headed out for some partying on Ventura Blvd, also with Kerrie's brother, Kevin, who I met last year and also Lisa. We partied it up and enjoyed good company and good times and apparantly after leaving at closing
Jay Leno Show
With Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Watts and Goo Goo Dolls time we got back to the flat and some Irish people from the flat across the way joined us until the early hours of the morning! Good times!
One night we also went out to Molly's brother's house warming party in the Hollywood area. Had some weird guy telling me how great a drinker he is and the mad nights he had been having lately ... I think that was that whole American building themself up thing! Kerrie, Craig, Molly and myself mainly just hung out that night making fun of a few people.
Molly's parents, Katie and Dennis, were good enough to put on a dinner in my honour (I go the special red plate)! We had dinner with them, the girls and Craig, Lisa, Kevin and Kerrie's parents, Tony and Mary (who I stayed with last time I was in LA). It was good catching up with everyone and some jovial dross was spoken, as we ate a great Lasagna and had drinks. It still feels amazing I didn't know these people until September last year and I now really know them well as well as their parents and they have been so good to me,
so I thank them so much!!! We also went back to Kezza's place for some jacuzzi time (just like last year)!
Kevin, Kerrie, Craig and myself headed out for some mixed football. We played both American football and some Aussie Rules football, both lots trying to teach each other skills and methods etc. We played a two on two game of American football and the Aussies performed very well I must say!! Some great passes and well needed excercise!
The rest of my week was spent hanging with Craig, who is supposed to be working for his Australian company from the flat, but I think he gets cabin fever badly as he continually wants to get out. So we went out a few times to the shops and that, many Quiznos lunches and an Outback Steakhouse meal where we chatted to a guy from Townsville. We also went out with the girls to a fun night at CPK and although sober we were taking stupid photos and acting like little kids once more after dinner. Craig, Kezza and myself also headed to Westwood, where UCLA is (very well to do area near Bel Air) and checked out the
Uni campus once more before going down to Santa Monica and walking the strip along with a meal and drinks.
Craig had booked in for us to play golf at Malibu Country Club on the Thursday. We got up early (felt weird) and headed out to Malibu and through some gigantic houses to this pretty good course. I didn't think it was so great, the greens were lightning fast and every player had to have a golf cart which was cool as the yardage kept coming up on screen. We played some pretty good golf, I hadn't played for a few months and was happy with how I played (greens in regulation would have been good) and I think I shot mid 80's, with Craig only a couple shots back. From this another lunch before heading out to the JAY LENO show, where Molly and Kerrie's friend, Sally (works for NBC) had got us some guest tickets. After walking around the Days of Our Lives set we had front row tickets and myself and Craig were involved in the warm up guy's act before the show started. We got to get up and shake Jay's hand (the girls taped
it and we could see us on the show!!!), so that was pretty cool. The show had a gorgeous girl from American Idol, then Leonardo DiCaprio, Naomi Watts (with an accent that was British/Aussie/American) and then the Goo Goo Dolls played. So we got a pretty good cast to watch and it was a very good show and good experience to watch it from the front row!
I was then off to Orange County for the night and staying with Kayla (friend of the girls) who i met last year and I was going off with her and her friends to Vegas for the weekend.
Most of the week was fairly lazy, which was great after months constantly on the go. The four of us, Molly, Craig, Kezza and me basically just caught up, talking about much of the same nonsense that began our friendship!!! They know the topics of conversation!!! Its fun being in that environment and just being dags together! Great people and will always be great friends.
