Bellagio
With the water show Woke up in Orange County and Vince, Kayla's boyfriend (who I also met last year) drove us in his massive pickup truck. We picked up another girl, Priscilla, and headed to meet the others who I had never met before. We were then off to Route 15 and the drive out to Nevada and Las Vegas!
Stopping in a tiny town called Baker along the way, which seemed to have everything owned by 'The Mad Greek'! We eventually got to Vegas after about 5 or so hours of driving. It is really like a mirage, there is just nothing but desert and mountains until you hit this mass of raods and buildings all flanked by the Rockies. We drove along the strip, checking out the different billboards, casinos, people, all of it is rather overwhelming. We were staying at the swish hotel, The Venetian, with 9 of us to a room that should only have 4 so we split the cost. It was a most excellent room, with a view of the strip, we could even see the fire and light show of The Mirage going on.
I decided to go for a walk down and arond the strip
New York, New York
With the MGM Grand lion to the right to check it all out. Through many casinos, Caeser's Palace and the Bellagio, where I saw Joe Hachem walking by (the Aussie 2005 World Series of Poker champion!), I was going to go and follow him to which table he was going to play at, but unfortunately I lost him while trying to find my camera. I also checked out the Bellagio water, light and music show which was really cool. Walking by Paris, Flamingos and so many places its hard to list them all. I reached New York, New York section (many places are just themes of the actual placesaround the world), walked the Brooklyn Bridge and made my way around. This is one of the bits I loved about it, as I had been to all these places I was remembering the place once more. Basically just to familiarise myself with the place and then gradually headed back to the hotel, walking through casinos and people watching.
Getting back to the hotel the others were getting ready. The boys consumed some alcohol, and after hearing about how good drinkers these guys were (they told me!) and the fact they were massive guys I thought I would see
how I would go (I will mention the end result later). We headed to a club called Tao, which was amazing! 2 stories with buddha's everywhere and good looking people everywhere! The drinks were ridiculously overpriced, and we had some shots and headed to the dancefloor, where on the stage these two girls were in a bath of rose petals wearing nothing at all, and just flaying their hands about all night!! Amazing!
After drinking the same as the guys they were done by 1:30am, so I continued on (I don't consider myself very good, but don't talk yourself up so much and then perform like that!) but perhaps it was also because they were so expensive! Partied on through the night at the club with some interesting occurrances. Then some went back to the room, while I went out to the casinos, at first I was just catching the others play and win some money, before I lost a little at blackjack. Crashed at 5:30am.
Up and at 'em by noon, well sort of. The others took ages to get ready just to wlak downstairs and we eventually had lunch in the Venice section, where a manmade
Elvis and Me
I think he married me off to someone walking by! canal full of gondolas waded through the shops, all with a fake sky on the roof (it looked so real). The only difference here was these gondolier guys sang, wheras the real ones don't! After this we were going to go look around, but once more they took forever! I was so so so restless, its hard when your used to travelling places by yourself to have to wait for a crew of people you really don't know ... extreme restlessness took over me and I wandered off.
Before long the others finally were ready and we took the monorail to the MGM Grand. Walking through the hotel and casino area, it seems the National Cheerleader Championships were being held that weekend! So for those of you who have seen the movie, 'Bring It On', it was exactly like that!!! Seriously they just would be standing there and break into some weird and overly-fake cheer as practice for what they were doing later I guess. There were even girls who looked far younger than 10 years of age, with their faces caked in make-up and you could see their mothers wearing a matching outfit and make-up cheering them on
Bellagio
The Bellagio before the water show .... hmmmmmmmmmm!
Anyway through their and to Fat Tuesday's where I bought a monster yard of a strawberry mixed drink. We then walked through to the lion enclosure, which is right inside the casino, before moving onwards walking around and checking things out. Then along the strip and through the M&M shop, as well as the Coca Cola shop, before making our way to Paris, where we went inside, got some more drinks, played some tables and slots at the casino and then parked ourselves by the band that was playing and sang and danced along to the songs! Much fun! We even got chatting to this group of people who were their to celebrate the renewal of vows of this couple celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They got re-married by an Elvis impersonator and showed us the photos, they were all so drunk and much fun ... they were heading to a mud wrestling contest after that!
After this we had dinner at Batista's, an Italian restaurant behind Flamingo's, which was again overpriced and then back to the hotel to get ready. After another considerable wait, we finally headed over the road to The Mirage and to
the club, Jet, it was amazinly cold and my hand was shaking so much, my drink kept flying across my shirt. We had pre-purchased tickets, so it didn't take us all that long to get in, and we partied away the night. Again overpriced (2 drinks cost me US$32) and once more the American's couldn't hold their drinks after talking a good game! It was a pretty good club, not as crowded as Tao, but I think I had a better time at Tao.
From there once more checked out the casino's, I lost a little more that night, but nothing to worry about. And after talking to an English guy about the drubbing we are giving the Poms in the Ashes, I got back to the room at 5:20am, and once more everyone else was fast asleep.
I got up early the next morning and took the monorail around in the morning. Past the amazing golf course that hides behind one of the casinos, before back to check out and from there we drove around the strip, to the other side where we hadn't been to before. Many wedding chapels down this end and the Stratosphere. We
The Venetian
Where we stayed had lunch near Wynn's casino, where Nick, one of the guys there was so overly enamoured by me, he is now planning his overseas adventures to all the places I talked to him about. He is a good kid (very excited!) and its kind of cool when someone thinks your alright! The drive back was fine, got some shut eye for a while as we passed through an amazing sunset.
On the drive once more I heard more 'me, me' stories and probably heard about how Vince could bench press 300 pounds, at leadt 38 times! It was fine though, he is a good enough guy and we drossed about other things.
So that was a synopsis of my time in Vegas. Would have liked to have gone to a show (Cirque Du Soleil), but maybe next time. All in all, its a crazy place and no more than a few days is required there. I had a good time! .... I managed to bring sexy back!!! .... High 5!
