I love this man
Ledgend, nuff said. Hollywood….
I went to Hollywood to become a star. I didn’t. Apparently there isn’t much of a market for ginger archaeologists who have lots of facial hair. Oh well.
I was looking forward to Hollywood as well as Vegas and San Fran and I enjoyed what little time we had there. Myself and Fran only had two full days before we flew to Fiji so not an awful lot of time to do anything really. We were staying on Hollywood Boulevard in a dirty hostel, but it was cheap so its all good. It was loud though, the noise wouldn’t die down until the early hours and it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hot when we were there that it was too hot to sleep anyway! Our room had no air con which was a bit annoying, sticky.
We were just over the road from the Kodak Theatre (where they have the Oscars) and that in turn is next to Mann’s Chinese Theatre so that was cool, we could visit them all in the same day or at night as we were so close! As you can imagine there were thousands of tourists everywhere, people selling stuff, buskers, street entertainers and
Mann's Chinese Theater
Iconic theater with the footprint's and handprint's outside it. it was a bit too much. I think we would have liked to have gone to the coast and to Venice Beach and Santa Monica etc if we had more time. We also went on a tour which showed us Sunset Boulevard, Rodeo Drive, a few other famous streets where films were shot (the house where the original Halloween film was shot-the balcony where Michael fell off at the end) and ton’s of famous houses around Bel Air and Beverly Hills. The tour was actually quite good and we got to see glimpses of homes owned by Mr Scientology himself (Mr Cruise), Carmen Electra and her bloke, Drew Barrymore, The Spellings, Nancy Regan, Dr Phil (have no idea who this dude is-prob a bit like Dr Hillary Jones…!), Nick Cage and loads others that I can’t remember. Also saw the house which was used as the Fresh Prince’s house so that was cool.
When we got back into town after the tour, we just happened to bump into Robin Williams! Someone was having loads of people take pictures of them and he emerged from the crowd and walked off on his own. It looked like we were following him
Nice
Her name was Britney, awesome. but we were walking that way anyway (honest!) and he suddenly turned and started to go back the way he came and gave Fran a smile as he walked past! I wanted to take a picture but didn’t want to be snap happy in his face so I left it! Anyway, that was pretty cool and a good end to our stay in Hollywood. Oh yeah, I managed to persuade Fran (actually she didn’t need much convincing-great girlfriend!) to go to Hooters-nice…err…meal and photo with sweet as waitress! By the way, I also got a picture of the best stars on the street...Hoff, Richie and Norris!
I think that we did as much as we could with what little time we had here and as LA is massive we would never be able to do that much in one visit. Maybe come back again, definitely to see the national parks that California and the states in general has to offer. I would definitely have liked to of hiked up to the vantage points for the Hollywood sign, we only saw it from miles away.
Well, that brings the USA to an end. Had a great time in America,
Me and a fellow Adam
This Adam is very funny...and a big star...only have the first name in common which is a shame. met some awesome people, got some sweet memories and had a wicked time! Without a shadow of a doubt, San Francisco was mine, and I think Fran’s favourite place. I loved loads of places though, Memphis was excellent, staying with all my family was also brilliant and I hope to be back again to see more, next time in a car though!
Hope everyone is well back home. That’s three blogs in two days (medal) so I don’t have much more to say as I put a lot of personal messages on my Vegas blog. As I write this we are in New Zealand, and booked our camper van for the next few weeks so quite excited about that. Might do some skiing as well….yes it’s that cold here, freezing right now! This internet place has no door it seems, got my scarf on!
Keep the peace and increase the love.
