Good Bye Avila Beach, Hello Escondido,

Today, we left Avila Beach for our 6 hour drive to Escondido, location of the Lawrence Welk Resort. We really enjoyed out time in the Central California Coast area. The proximity of Morro Bay, Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, and Pismo Beach make this a nice location for access to culture and wine country. We highly recommend this area as a destination.

What can I say, driving through any part of LA, even on a Saturday, is anything but plesaureable. Heavy traffic with crazy motorcyclists weaving in and out is nuts. It's nice that Costco is well established as my usual gas stop is the Costco in Oxnard. Escondido also has a Costco as does Palm Desert. Gas is $3.759 at Costco. Trader Joe's are plentiful. We provisioned up at Trader Joes in Temecula before coming to the resort.

After unloading and setting up, and joining up with Fara, we enjoyed wine and cheese on the patio overlooking a large pond. Then had a spirited game of Hand and Foot with Fara taking the prize!

Tomorrow is Susan's birthday, so more about our celebration then.
