A BIG SUGUARO CACTUS OUTSIDE OUR BACK DOOR! Seufer 6: Destination: Scottsdale, Arizona: February 9-18, 2007
Friday, February, 9, 2007
After a restful nights sleep, Team Seufer camp motor home was up and at 'em early, getting the motor home ready to move toward Phoenix. This was the first morning in a long time that we were up before 7:00am let alone 8:00. Ty wanted to be on the road early and into Scottsdale by 10:30ish. Today we will return the motor home to Mesa.
We managed to stop at Tanner's dream breakfast place, McDonalds. Our final decent into Scottsdale went relatively smooth. We pulled the big rig into the beautiful Rocks Club, which is where we will be staying for the remainder of this AZ trip. Since our villa was not ready, we unloaded all of our luggage and sovenires from the motor home, where they would be stored for us, until it is ready. Ty dropped all 5 of us and the luggage off and headed to Mesa to turn in the motor home and to pick up good friends, Michael and Cameron Sandoval. They would be spending the weekend with us.
What to do, while we wait for our villa?? The day was
SCOTTSDALE
LIVING IT UP IN OUR OWN PLUNGE POOL! gorgeously warm, so we put on our swim suits and headed to the pool. The pool was nice and cold, but the hot tub was perfect. We went back and forth between the cold pool and the warm hot tub, we lounged, read some books, ordered snacks and drinks, went to the bathroom too many times, played some pool games, then Ty, Mike and Cameron joined us. We ordered some lunch, chitchatted, then headed to our villa.
We all lounged in the plunge pool at our villa and got settled in.
That night Ty grilled steaks while the kids played an endless game of Monopoly. Later that night Mike, Ty and Anna went to the clubhouse for a very fancy wine and appetizer tasting. Wonderful french wines and champagne with bottomless glasses. The appetizers were also very nice and unique: caviar, elk loin, duck froi groi, and lobster claw meat with poached quail eggs. Interesting yet tasty to say the least.
Made it back to the villa by 9:00pm, just in time to hop in the plunge pool with Jess, Tanner and Cameron. Then off to bed.

A quick workout at the Rocks Club
SCOTTSDALE
TANNER AND LILLY STARTING THE MORNING OFF RIGHT! exercise room was a great way to start off this beautiful Saturday. The great thing about the Rocks Club is that they offer a free continental breakfast every morning. I enjoyed a light breakfast, cup of coffee and read the USA Today before hiking back up to the villa to get the kids moving. Jessica, Cameron and Tanner were up and already continuing their monopoly game. Lilly and Emma were doing the usual, making messes and bossing everyone around. Mike and Ty were getting ready for 18 holes of golf at Grayhawk Golf Course. Golf is huge here in Scottsdale and a little expensive, but the boys got to do what they got to do. Since we only have one rental car, Me, Lilly, Emma, loaded up in the car to drop Mike and Ty off at the golf course. We made a quick stop at Walgreens to clean up my digital camera and pick up a few items we needed. Returning back to the villa, the monopoly game was still going but the 3 older kids were dressed and ready. So I quick put Emma and Lilly in the bath and got myself ready too. Our goal today is

TIME TO EAT! to find a great pizza place to have lunch.
Wow! Did we ever hit the jack pot of pizza in Scottsdale right on Pima Road, just a few miles from our villa. We ate the best yummy pizza at Grimaldi's Pizza in a hip shopping plaza. It is just what we were looking for, homemade crust, homemade tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and peperoni. It reminded me of the delicious pizza Ty and I have eaten in in New York City. The kids loved it just as much as I did. We ordered 1 large pizza and only had one thin slice to take home. We browsed the shopping plaza, then headed back to the villa to wait for the golfers to return. In the plunge pool all the kids went, it is funny the neat games kids can come up with. After a fun day, Emma and Lilly needed a nap so down they went. The older kids continued their game of Monopoly, while I did some laundry and got ready for dinner out.
Off to dinner we adults went as soon as the babysitter arrived at the villa. We enjoyed a nice dinner at a close restaurant

lets go swimmin called DeFrancos. We also enjoyed reminiscing about old times in Canon City. Mike, Ty and I all grew up in Canon City and went to school together. We have all remained such good friends. It is hard to believe Mike's daughter, Sheena will graduate high school this year, we remember her when she was just a baby. It has been a pleasure watching her grow into such a great woman. Cameron is great too. Congratulations to you Mike. On the way back to the villa, we went to a place called Greasewood Flats across the street from the Rocks Club. This bar/restaurant was unique because it was an outdoor bar that served hamburgers and chips, had a live band, great horseshoe pits, tons of picnic tables and had fire pits all over to keep people warm. It was in a huge area. It was fun and we can't wait to take the kids there.

The monopoly game just continues on and on. Mike and Ty decided to golf again, this time off to Troon north, while we lounged a little. After breakfast at the clubhouse, everyone got ready to shop. Ty and Mike made it

lets go for a hike home at a decent time and off we all went to the big Fashion Mall in Scottsdale. Cameron, Tanner and Jessica wanted to do some mall shopping. We browsed for a while at a very enormous mall with every store imaginable. Mall shopping got tiring, so off went back to the villa to relax in the plunge pool. Ty grilled steaks and baked potatoes. We ate dinner on the outside patio as the older kids continued their monopoly game. We watched the Grammy awards, and laughed with the kids. Unfortunately Mike and Cameron have to be up early tomorrow to fly back to Colorado. We had such a great time with them. Next week we will get caught up on some school work and try to relax a little bit.
