After Palenque we moved onto a town called Merida. Spent all day on the bus to get there which wasn´t the nicest way to spend the day! We got pulled over to search our bags by the army hence the reason you don´t spend the night travelling rather than wasting a day.

Didn´t like the town as much as the others as it wasn´t pedestrianised and was therefore quite noisy and dirty. Got out of the town for the only day we were there to go to these Cenotes. They´re caves with big pools of water in them. Getting there and back was half the fun - it involved a bus, horse and cart on rails and a bicycle ride. Bit of a sore bum by the end! The caves were absolutely beautiful and it was cool to go swimming in them, if not a bit eerie at first! One of them had a jump which was about 5 metres high into the cave. Finally bit the bullet and jumped in - feel the fear and do it anyway! Great day and really looking forward to heading to the beaches tomorrow!
