My troubadour
for only $1 USDBack from vacation! Isn't that a wild thing to say? I go home to Texas for two weeks to take care of business, but really I partied almost the whole time, and now I come back to the Yucatan to work and enjoy!!
I managed to see so many friends this trip down (or I guess up). I'm not going to attempt to name everyone for fear of leaving someone out and there's simply not enough blog space! Did manage to go to all my favorite watering holes (including private homes). The Alibi's party on the 21st was great. Wish all of you could have made it. George came in from a fast job project up north just for the party. Still waiting for passport to head to his overseas job. Boyd and I had a blast at the Pine Tree Lodge listening to Billy Poullard and the Zydeco Combo. I love them! I can listen to Cajun music over here by stations that are on the internet.
My property looks great! Maurine has
been the best project manager I've ever had! And thanks, Bubba, for ALL the work you and the guys have poured into making it so
Sisal, Yucatan 1 hr from Merida
beautiful.
Nancy got back from Puerto Rico, but we just couldn't talk Gabriel into letting her fly back with me for a visit.... I want them both to visit soon though.
Note to all. Do NOT use the postal service when sending anything to Mexico. Takes 2 months (no kidding). So this time I sent two boxes of clothes (who me?) by DHL. To the tune of $339 USD ! Ouch! I've tracked 'em and they beat me to Merida. Will be at my office tomorrow. Yeah!
Flight from Beaumont- Port Arthur was on time (which is a first), but a close call in Houston and had to run through the airport. Then I got to Mexico City and it took forever through immigration because no one had stamped my 'special exit / entrance' pass when I left Mexico. I have got to learn some of the language! You should hear this 5 ft almost 2 inch talking Texan to get the message across when I
get pissed! Got it stamped finally, waylayed an airline employee to print me a ticket (change of airline) and ran to that plane too! Tired of running. Had left Beaumont at
Ana & Manuel - Sisal Kiddie Land
10 am and finally got to Merida at 7 pm. Smoked my first cig since leaving and then found out that my car battery was dead!!!! Didn't let that stress me though. After all, I had finally had a cigarette and there was beer on two of the planes. Found a really cute guy from Mexico City that spoke English to tell the taxi driver where to take me and the MC guy even rode with me. Not to worry friends. He wasn't wearing a wedding band but he had a 2 yr old with him. My luck.
Oh, yeah. Continental lost my luggage when I arrived in Beaumont (got it the next day) but my luggage and purse never got searched on the way back by any of the 4 airports! That's a big first. Usually they go through everything, even ripping my purse off my shoulder. Their problem, cause that thing weighs a ton!
Rental agency took me
back to the airport yesterday morning and jumped the car. Got the biggest hug I've had in Merida from the guy! See, I don't always need Spanish! I guess it was the happy dance in the parking lot
More Sisal Kiddie Land....
that I was doing.
Read online about a 4th of July party at Buddy's in Progeso, so naturally I had to go the beach after the car started. Found a hotel room and booked it for Wednesday night cause there is no way I can party and drive (much less in the dark) back to Merida. Hope I have even more liquor in me when I stay there than when I booked. It's a block or so off the beach because this month and next is when all the Mexicans are on vacation (and gang, they get longer vacations than in the US) and all the hotels are booked.
Stopped by Katie's in Chelem too to drop off some things I had brought back for her. I need to actually stay on her beach sometime instead of rushing on down the road.
The pictures are the last I had taken in June before heading to

IT engineers from Mexico City Texas on the 18th. And, no, I did not take pictures in Beaumont. Nor did I take any at the beach yesterday. Y'all must be tired of seeing beach pictures. I need to get out on the town more for some pics

IT engineers from Mexico Cityof this beautiful city. No Mayan ruins though. Not my thing.
Write to me, everyone! I'll probably be back in about 6 weeks. Then Carol will be here on August 31st so I'll be around to party with her (remember all, Carol's Travel is a good thing) and Turner's vacation is Aug 20th thru Sept 7th so he'll be here and then I'll probably go to Belize with him for a visit there at Rodger's.
Love to all, Patt

Patt, I think my title sums up how I feel! You get to party and relax on a beach and I had to go to a wedding in Oklahoma! It was in the middle of no where! Well enjoy yourself, stay safe and come home to us. Jeff
