we arrived in campeche late last night, after 6+ hours of bus travel. when we arrived it was dark and we were tired but that did not damper my ability to enjoy approaching this cool city. it was a bit of a walk from the bus terminal to the town proper....but i´m glad we walked. the town proper is surrounded by a cement wall...built in the 1600´s to protect it from pirate invasions. when we arrived, there was a reinactment of a pirate invasion taking place on the wall...complete with sound & light effects and dualing pirates.
the city is amazing at night....both the wall and the center plaza look much more beautiful after sunset. today we walked around town and explored a bit. fortunately the weather was perfect for this....the past few weeks have been hot and humid with lots of bright sun...but today was cloudy with a cool breeze blowing...almost pant weather. it was a nice break.
there is a relaxing vibe about this place that i adore. it is clean, colorful, friendly, and small but spacious. i could easily spend lots of time here.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!
