Vancouver
Morning views from hotel. The morning came around too quickly due to the alarm waking us up at 7am as we had a long day ahead of driving. Before checking out, we managed to upload the last two blogs, which was good as there is no WAP at our hotel tonight. Loaded the car up and Gail went next door to get our free muffin and orange juice so we could breakfast as we drove.
Once out of Vancouver Liisa sped along, keeping an eye in the mirror for police, so we could cover as much ground as possible. It would be a long drive - approx 8 hours including stops for gas, food and picture taking. Our route took us from Vancouver via, Hope, Meritt, Kelowna, Lake Okanagan, Vernon, Revelstoke and finally to Rogers Pass in Glacier National Park where we are staying the night up in the beautiful Rockies.
The scenery along the way was varied, going from farmland, to mountainous, prairie, farmland again, fruit orchards, an abundance of lakes, and finally up into the Rockies.
On entering our Best Western Hotel we were greeted with the most ferocious looking animals and that was just the receptionists!! Ha ha! No, the
hotel was full of scary stuffed animal’s; bears, wolves, eagles, stags and most in the position of attack, it looked more like a hunters lodge than a hotel. Luckily the rooms were more tastefully decorated.
We walked around the hotel and took some beautiful pictures of the surrounding scenery, checked out the heated outdoor pool, which was hot and like a sauna, then relaxed in the hotel room writing up the blog and watching a program on bear attacks and avalanches!
