Winter Wonderland
The view we woke up to this morning from the condo window .. an overnight snow dump We woke up this morning to a winter wonderland - a fresh snow dump overnight had decorated the needles of the green fir trees with white icing. However, this also led to a challenging day on the slopes as inches of powder piled up on the runs.
It was also a cold day with fog around the base and a gale blowing near the top of the mountain which made for some great snow drift viewing. Once we climbed above the fog band, the visibility was good which made for easier skiing. Both of us struggled early in the powder as it really throws your ski's around when you hit a build up - made the more difficult with poor visibility. at the end of the day, we caught the peak to peak back to blackcomb and had the whole gondola to ourselves - there were some great views from 4,000 feet above the valley. It was a slow and difficult last run however - the fog band near the base reduced visibility down to less than 10 metres so we had stick together and use our memory of the run to make it through.
