Picnic by the Bow RiverPicnic by the Bow RiverPicnic by the Bow River

Sidsel & Gloria (friends from my Calgary days) and Ron getting to know each other.
We're into the last few days with Mini, Russell & Timothy. We are looking forward to the trip out East but this will not be an easy parting. We've been so very well cared for here it would be easy to stay.
Yesterday Ron and I did the C train thing again and checked out The Bay (Hudson's) downtown. Had a fish & chips lunch then met up with Timothy at the Glenbow Museum. Wow! what an amazingly well laid out exciting display of Canada's history. The story of the originals, the settlers, the empire builders, the immigrants, art and fabulousness of this country - we stayed till closing time when we were courteously invited to leave.
Of course we have had some great games times here and look forward to a few more before we leave. We have a couple of new ones we'd like to introduce when we get home.
Sunshine again this morning. We had a little thunder storm yesterday but it didn't last long.
I've begun to think about New Zealand a bit more lately so I guess that means I'm still attached heart-wise to the homeland. I even look up the Taranaki Daily News site from

This is the down town mall area where there's music (Mini & Russell's band played here a few weeks ago) & craft tents and lots of colour and action. There's Ron in the middle of it all.
time to time. The snow looks like lots of fun. We wonder about what you are all doing so drop in a comment from time to time if you can. We love that.
Hope you enjoy the pics.
Our love to you all,
Ron/Dad/Grandad & Pat/Mum/Granny

An Iron Horse we really liked. Made of lots and lots of bits of scrap iron - bolts, reinforcing rods, up top was an old plough, all sorts of stuff all put together to create this lovely draft horse in downtown Calgary.

Happy Here
Hi there, we have been trying to keep warm over here, at least the sun has been out for the last few days and there hasn't been too much rain to follow the snow. Nicole has been getting up early for the last 3 mornings and we have driven her around the streets to do a rubbish survey for her Maths Fair project. She is trying to find out whether people with green wheelie bins recycle as much as those who just put out black rubbish bags. There has been a bit in the paper lately about where New Plymouth will go as far as increasing recycling and reducing the amount that ends up at the tip. Her results look interesting. Ryan is becoming more and more keen on in-line. I had a thought, Mum, that a great present for him would be a calgary flames shirt, if you had the time to get one, and the room in your bags. We would pay you back of course. It would be best to get one a little big. They are baggy to fit over their pads anyway. There may not be any being summer over there anyway. We had dinner with John and Catherine out at their place last night. They are starting to get things sorted. Their bedroom, bathroom and the lounge/kitchen are mainly free of boxes now, but the garage and two spare rooms are still full. Lots of sorting out to be done yet. Only the weekend left of our holidays, then back into action again. Great to hear you are making the most of your time there. Love to you all, Peter
