Our first stop in Jordan was the desert castles. The first castle we saw was Qasr-Al-Harrana. According to posted signs it was most likely one of the first inns of the Islamic period. It pays to leave early as we were the first people to have been there. Sara was given the key to the castle which made her queen. This is a stage where plays were staged.

Heather has climbed to the top. The spectators would sit here.

Here each person would have assigned seating and they would know as each seat had a symbol to represent where they were to sit.

Our guide placed a spoon under the column so that we could see how the columns are always shifting.

This is a longer but fantastatic way to travel through Jordan. The King's Highway leads you through hills, valleys, small towns and farm land. Absolutely beautiful!

Greek orthodox church that houses the famous mosaic tile depicting all the important holy sites in the middle east.

An elevated ridge (815 feet high). The supposed place of Moses' buriel.

This church and monastery were discovered in 1933. It was constructed in the 4th century to commemorate the place of Moses' death.

This tree was planted by Pope John Paul II in 2000.

Across from our hotel, in this little building, covered on the inside with grafiti...is Moses' rock. The one he hit with his staff and water sprouted from it.

A lot of people go on horseback along this road - I tried but felt too bad for the horse so I got off and fed him my apple and energy bar - he probably needed it.

Sheri, Thank you so much for including me on your blog, I will never have the opportunity to visit these wonderful sites unless I wil the Lotto!!(fat chance). The Pictures are wonderful, and the background you have given with each site makes me feel like I was there with you....keep enjoying the sites, you will be home before you know it...
