wow. that song sums it up for me. this is my first entry, and i just decided over the past month that it was a good idea for me to move to israel for the year. I had two weeks to get everything together and to say my goodbyes. My family and friends have been very supportive of me making this decision. I was not the only one who did I am one of 53 this year on Otzma and everyone who decided to take part in the ten month journey needed to know what they were getting into.

Yes I cried saying goodbye to mama and the rest of the family, but I knew that I could do this. I deff was not ready or didnt want to come as a gap year between high school and college but sometimes I regret that and now its my turn. What am I exactly doing here? I am on a ten month volunteer program called Otzma it is a program sponsered by the Jewish Agency in Israel, the Jewish Federation system in America as well as MASA a non for profit organization to help get americans here for long term trips.

I just finished my week long tyul (trip) hiking in the desert, and I have moved into the Merkaz Klita; the absorption center. Is it what I thought it would be? No but that is ok I really didnt have high expectations so I was neither let down or had my hopes up. We are living in apts of 6 but mine has 5 because in BS (Beer Sheva) there is an odd number. I pulled my name of out a hat, and I got my own room.. what I never had my own room since I was seven years old. I am living with someone from CT,MD,TX as well as LA. We deff are an mix of personalities.. tomorrrow we have our ulpan test, and I will update how thats goes. I am officially here.. I committed to this .. and lets see what doors get opened.
