on the way to benYahuda st
Last night we went out to Ben Yahudah mall and saw an amazing sight a street covered by colored umbrellas and we bought some nice presents

Today we left Jerusalem and headed for the coast

at Tal-Aviv we went to the Palmach museum where we were taken through the history of the Palmach (the security force of the new nation of Israel)

to start with there were 2 groups the hagana who were security and mostly involved in securing illegal immigrants (Jews ) coming to Palestine after the holocaust Illegal because Britain controlled the land having taken it from the Turks and their policy was for no new immigrants to the land of Palestine

the other group was irgun not sure how to spell it, they were more violent and tried to encourage the British to leave by blowing up roads and bridges and even the king david hotel, however they did ring the British 3 times to warn them to leave the hotel before it was blown up.

these 2 groups were pulled into one when the state of Israel was established forming the palmach and then it became the Israeli defense force IDF

umbrella street

the story is again very moving especially when we listened to an 87 yr old man who was a palmach member at the age of 19 and a haganah member at 16 he lost half of his friends in the war of independence. it is amazing that they survived against 7 nations with tanks and planes when they only had reinforced commercial vehicles and piper planes as their air-force fitted with machine guns and most of their weapons were stolen from the British by soldiers fighting with them against Germany. there are so many impossible amazing stories truly God was working to make Israel a nation at the right time.

from here we went to caesaria where the romans particularly Herod built an amazing city even having piped water to the houses an amphitheatre and a place to race chariots

he piped water from the hills water sources in an aquaduct

paul came here to see cornelious and left from here to travel to rome, this was the main port in this coast

we are now at our motel in haifa and the boys have gone to the beach
