Hi!!
I´m planning a trip to India in mid July to August for 6 weeks, but I´m afraid that weather won´t be nice for travelling at that time! May someone can give me some advice where to go during the sommer months??
That would be really helpful!! Thanks a lot!! Heidi
Reply to this hi heidi,
in july weater is hot in india.. but in august monson starts... so if u want to travel india go towards north (himalayas)..
Reply to this depends on the kind of experience you want, north will be really hot, but then there is some thing to see, everywhere.
if you want to see the old, go to the historic places, like Delhi,Jaipur(palaces, forts) Agra(Taj Mahal), Banaras( temples) or the Himalayas further north. or
the India the economic super power of the future(as they say) how things are shaping up,come down to the big cities like Bangalore(i'm here), Bombay, Delhi.
Precautions to be take before coming here-
1. good medical check up, because our summers get really hot, we have a hard time handling it some times, but defenatlely worth not to be missed, because of this.
2. contacts in major towns, maybe someone in the local church, hospital any thing.
3. tentative travel plan.
4. if female, then come along with someone.
5. lonely planet- the book
quires welcome 😊
best wishes

Reply to this Hi!
Thanks for your help!!!
Well my sister was in Rajastan and she really loved it. But she went there in February... The thing is that I only have time in July and August and I would love to see as much as possible from India... But I thougt that weather for travelling can be a problem in summer. My sister hasn´t been to the north. The north is worth a trip you think? .... and I also could go to Nepal some days... Does someone have experienced the north??
thanks....!!!! Heidi
Reply to this Hi Heidi!
I lived in Northern India (Himachal Pradesh) for several months back in 2004 and re-visited the area for a holiday in 2006. I have travelled quite extensively around Himachal Pradesh and surrounding areas. It does still get hotter at that time of year but if you head to towns and villages in the mountains you'll be fine. (Best to avoid very remote villages during the monsoon though as the rain often causes flooding and you might find yourself stuck with the roads blocked and so on).
Travelling around is relatively easy - you can pretty much book hotels and taxis as you arrive at each place. If you want to make life a bit easier you can hire a taxi in Delhi and negotiate your own tour - this can work out a lot cheaper, and saves you considerable stress as you don't have to haggle over taxi prices everywhere you go. If you want any advice on places to visit, things to do/see, good hotels etc feel free to send me a message. I can also recommend a very good taxi driver based in Delhi if you want to pre-arrange an itinerary.
Reply to this hey heidschi,
u have around 3 weeks in india? u can start with delhi, around 2 days( lots to see) then go to agra -taj mahal and the complete set over there( 205 km, 4-5 hrs drive) ,agra is enough for a day
then Agra to Jaipur is some 230 kms(6 hrs. drive), drive is along really good highways so, will be comfortable. in Jaipur spend a couple of days, now couple if you can go to jodhpur and then to pushhkar, jaiselmer.they will be worth comming all the way. this is around 7-8 days now tell me wat you want and i will find out what wat works best in that season, with the time left.
law school calling....
best
