Many other sites are saying that there is a free 60 day tourist visa now available. Thailand's way to try and get people back into the country following the problems they have been having.

Does anyone know if this is true??? And if so, where would I get this from??

Hello Rick 😊

There was a thread by somebody else asking that question a while ago, but unfortunately no real answers. If you find information about this 60 visa would you post it here for the next person who asks.

Think I have worked it all out!!! Here goes.....

I'm not sure whether websites can be put on here but if they are go to http://www.thaiconsul-uk.com/downloads-and-visas.aspx and read the CONCESSIONARY TOURIST VISA pdf.

This is the free SINGLE ENTRY 60 day visa. You can get this upto the 4th June. Either via post or just walk into the nearest Thai consulate/embassy. Please note this is only SINGLE ENTRY - multiple entry visa's still cost!!

Also, after a lot of searching I have come to this conclusion for me.....the problem I have been having is that I fly to Bangkok on May 25th and depart from BKK Sept 11th, roughly 15 weeks - 115 days to be exact, I think!! So, when I arrive I have the free 60 day single entry visa that I will be using. I probably will only be in Thailand about 3/4 weeks and then I will be going to Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam. Before the 4th June, I will visit a Thai consulate in 1 of these countries and get another free single entry 60 day visa. I have worked out, that if I use this next visa from July 10th then I will not have to pay any visa fee's in Thailand. Therefore, not having to do any border runs - every 15 days or pay any money to extend the stay.

I hope this makes sense!!! I am pretty confident all the above is correct!!! Any questions, please ask~ Reply to this

You probably know this already this, but citizens of most countries get a free 30 day visa exemption stamp at the airport on entering Thailand. And last I heard they get another free 15 days when they cross any border and reenter Thailand. But there is some kind of rule that you can only get a certain number of free visas within a certain amount of time.

Those tourists who are eligible for the free 30 day entry permit in their passports can get a second 30 days if they fly in from a different country. Suppose you run your original 30 days out and visit Malaysia or Vietnam. If you choose to fly back to Thailand by air you get a second 30 days free. If you return by land you only get 15 days.

For a while there was a limit of no more than 90 days out of 180 days for the free 30 day entry stamps. I think that is not enforced now because Thailand wants all the tourists they can get.

Everything is fluid concerning visas. This is what I believe is correct today, tomorrow there may be something different. Thai Visa Forum has a good section on Thai Visas and they probably update hourly.

Good luck.

Hi

All above is correct including the information about :

"For a while there was a limit of no more than 90 days out of 180 days for the free 30 day entry stamps. I think that is not enforced now because Thailand wants all the tourists they can get."

It is not expressly confirmed or denied in the latest Thai Immigration information, but I have a friend who lives in Thailand and just "country hops" inorder to live here.

Regards
