Why can't Auckland replicate this!?
What a game! New Zealand certainly blew away any World Cup demons, with their stunning 29-9 victory over Wales at Millennium Stadium.

After their shocking defeat to France at the same ground a year ago, the ABs had a lot to prove to loyal fans back in Cardiff, with hopes of a better result.

And what a match it was! The atmosphere was electrifying and I'm not sure Eden Park will come even close to matching these facilities when we host the World Cup in 2011. We had a prime view from behind the goal line, and I tried my best to get close ups of the lads ladies 😉

There was a sea of black in the crowd, and the town must have wondered what had hit after most Kiwis started drinking at 9am for the NZ vs Aussie league match, which we also dominated!

Our group of six (Gus, Lorraine, Jason, Doug, Joel and I) travelled to Cardiff the Friday after work, via UK cattle-class (they didn't reserve our seats as I booked too early, go figure)! We stayed the first night in a hostel in town, and on the Saturday stayed in a hotel in Caerphilly, eight miles out of town. Cardiff doesn't have a lot of accommodation available when it comes to rugby games, and it was a stretch finding a room for the second night, despite booking three months in advance.

If we'd had to travel back home after the game like quite a few people did, I wouldn't have the stories to tell you about Joel getting lost in the hostel wearing nothing but an All Blacks shirt and waking up in another room...or on the Saturday night staying in town so he didn't have to pay the £25 to get back the hotel, which he had to pay the following morning anyway... What can I say?!

To be fair we'll all have to go back to Wales to do some siteseeing, as we never really made it out of the main 'drinking' street from Friday night to Sunday afternoon - but that's what sporting weekends away are all about! 😉 Plus the Welsh are such a friendly bunch to hang out with, I don't think that'll be a problem.
