Well didn't we have a nice surprise one Monday evening in September! Doorbell rings at 5pm and there's Nanny & Grandad!

The word was out that they'd gone to the Lake District for a few days, and I had said wistfully to Daddy 'it'd be nice if they made it this far. I wouldn't be surprised if we have some visitors towards the end of the week.' He'd warned me not to get my hopes up, but there - just 36hours, one B&B, one AA breakdown call and 700miles later - there they were!

And we were all very happy to see them! They walked J & G to school (even though they think I'm mean making G walk there and back twice a day!) and joined in J's shared learning at the end of each day. The weather was mostly nice so we got to the beach and the park, they took the kids to Forres for the Day of Culture, which is when Nanny & J went in the rickshaw. Apparently there was a policeman on stilts there which neither of the kids liked at all! Nanny went to the cinema twice. Nanny, Grandad & I went

to see Martin Carthy & Dave Swarbrick (ex Pentangle folky blokies) in concert and it was so bad we left at the interval and went to the pub, when the barman made it up to Dad by giving him two free pints!
