Edinborough in a hangover state as evidenced by the picture of the statue.
We took off on a tour of the Highlands. We met our tour on the Royal Mile, as it were. I have to be careful not to want to have to go to the... (loo). To my dismay on our first stop we had to pay 30 pence. I asked the attendant if there was any toilet paper and he said " See the ticket in your hand? Thats all you get!" . It was a rectangular square the size of a stamp. "That won't do" I said, so he handed me another ticket. Lol Ha Ha Ha.
We visited a quaint 13th century church while we were at the first stop. What was interesting though was not just the church but the trees. Which were all unique. There was a melange of Monkey Puzzles, Sequoias, Firs, Maples. Etc.. We were told that the seeds were brought over from diff parts of the world in the 17th century and planted. The church had a beautiful organ inside and the gentleman inside was very informative regarding the history of the church.
We passed small towns
of unique culture. Also J.K.Rowlings mansion.
We stopped about 10 times on the tour visiting countryside and small towns.
For lunch we stopped in one of these tourest traps (Towns) I GOT RIPPED OFF). Me. I thought I was smarter that that but hey, I am on vacation right? I ordered a 9 $ Baked potatoe. Yes you heard it from my lips. 9 $ DOLLARS. You would think that this potatoe had gold leaf draped over it. No, it had chedder cheese, No sour creme, no shalots, no nothing. It was cold as well. We had to prepay for it. So I couldn't take it back.
Our last major stop of the day was the Dewar Distillery. We toured this smelly GREAT SMELL though place and also sampled some of the local whisky. This place was automated needing only 2 employees to run the whole show of making the whisky.
The tour guide regalled us on the way back to Edinborough with stories of the past which included one about this well to do gentleman supposedly who was trafficing human body parts by murdering in the streets. We tried to end the day by eating
in the pub that sported his name. Unfortunately it was packed. So we left and ate at another pub. Pubs are big business in the UK.
We decided to take a taxi closer to home. Our first taxi experience was cool. The arrangement in the back of these cars is unique in that you can sit facing each other in the back. The taxis are designed so that they are like a mini station wagon. Longish , which gives you the room to stretch and enjoy the ride.
we decided to hit a favorite Pub spot where we ate the first night. You guessed it, I had to go to the Loo. I will not describe what I saw when I opened the first door. Suffice tto say someone missed with the dark stuff behind the seat. Ugghhhhhhhhhh.
