Arlene kept asking what's under the Kilt
Now maybe we know the answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well here we are. Saturday, and the two groups left the Ross-Shire Red house of Dornie. What a ball we had during the past 8 days. Randy said he travelled over 1000 miles during this time. I have to say that, we absolutely saw soo much and covered allot of the lower Highlands area. I will certainly go back with fond memories of Scotland and all the heather, moss, green beautiful large Locks, dams, many beautiful castles, so many sheep everywhere (I kept dreaming of sheep even on my return), the excellent food we purchased and cooked. The special Blas festival Music fro the Galic community. The sights and sounds were absolutely fantastic. What more can I say. Certainly a place to revisit again.
So On Saturday Randy, Myrna, Arlene and I headed out on our own again. We drove from the Dornie through Shiel Bridge, Invergarry and then down through Fort William and on through to the tourist, port town of Oban, passing many large Locks along the way.
We stopped along the way to absorb the beauty of the land for one final time. We were amazed at the size of Fort William wishing we had more
Edinburgh window displays
We had fun looking at these displays-humor!!!!!!! time to spend there, but when when we arrived at the town of Oban, were pleasantly surprised at the size of the place and the charm and beauty of the port, building and people. I have to say that it was here that Arlene and I got "Dumped", so to speak, by Randy and Myrna, as they originally were scheduled to continue our trip with us back to Edinburgh and then onto London, but Randy and Myrna decided to take an adventurous trip to the island of Barra, the place where her family were originally from, a 6 hour ferry ride from Oban. Actually, Arlene and I did not mind at all, and it was good for the two of them to spend a few days on their own after such an adventure in Scotland. We stopped at an excellent tourist place in the middle of town, were able to get tickets for a bus back through Glasgow and then on to Edinburgh. Later we heard that Randy and Myrna had an excellent trip to the island. Arlene and I jumped on the bus, enjoyed the views through the countryside and onto Glasgow. We stopped there to later catch a
Made to measure
More Scottish outfits-neat!! bus to Edinburgh and once we arrived, were pleasantly surprised at arriving at the beautiful Bed and Breakfast place, "Allburys Bed and Breakfast", so beautifully decorated with such a lovely breakfast. We ventured out only to find a popular take out food place and were convinced by some local soccer players to actually try some haggis for the first time for both of us. We took this back to our hotel and absolutely enjoyed the haggis. I think it was the best in town. We truly wished we had at least another full day to spend more time in Edinburgh, but as planned, we stilll had other adventures to deal with and that was in London, so away we went.
