Today was scheduled to be Museum and Sunday Roast Day, it turned out to be sleep and do-nothing day. We had already decided the night before to cancel our Sunday Roast reservation because my stomach was just not going to be up to it. We had cancelled our dinner reservation for tonight earlier in the week, as we anticipated we would be quite full from our Sunday Roast Lunch. None of this happened of course. We did sleep until about 11, then Jerry showered and was going to go to the Huntarian Art Gallery, but by the time he was ready he would have only had an 90-minutes to get there and enjoy the museum. Anyone else gone wandering in Glasgow and found themselves in the backstreets of Gotham city, USA instead? No? Well it happened to myself and Glyn today, I kid you not. The alarm went off at 7.30am, and it being a Sunday means only one thing, I’m on Wade holiday where I often get up earlier than I would for work so that we can cram in as much as possible until we both pass out exhausted at the end of the day. Glyn was perturbed at me setting an alarm that’s not on the hour. I find this hilarious and asked that we set if for 7.12am, I got frowned at for that. Today we set off for our first holiday since July 2019! Woo hoo! Leaving home at lunchtime meant that we had beautiful golden light dappling the amazing landscape around the Lake District. There’s many motorways I hate, but the bit of M6 just north of Kendal is awesome. And it’s always been pretty empty when I’ve driven on it. The more north we got, the closer to we were to dark clouds. This is probably due to the North being uphill, or so Glyn says. There was intermittent rain but nothing heavy. To be honest I’m disappointed by the lack of snow. I saw a bit on distant mountain tops, but nothing worth writing about. Oh…. Dear All Greetings from Sheffield! I have returned after a really wonderful month travelling around Scotland, England’s northern neighbour. Whilst recent travel restrictions have not been easy to deal with for a travelling soul like myself, I would like to thank Scotland for offering me the opportunity to get out there, explore, and scratch that travelling itch I’ve been unable to scratch for quite some time now. It has shown me its glorious nature, stunning landscapes, wonderful wildlife and welcoming people, and I feel now I have gotten to know Scotland just that little bit better than I had done before. Before I ended my journey, however, I had one final port-of-call to make, and that was to wonderful Glasgow. Another great day. A leisure breakfast and a visit to Provand Lordship near the Cathedral. It is the oldest house in Glasgow 1471. Some interesting history and a beautiful “Inn” in its day. Mary, Queen of Scott’s would have enjoyed her stay. A Great City and glad we visited. ?... read more
