Before anyone asks...yes, you will be bombarded with Glaswegian expressions until such time as I leave Glasgow or they stop making me giggle quietly to myself. On the brighter side, my stay in Glasgow will also mean more frequent entries as I have a lot of time and free access to internet. So if you don’t like it and then you can go “away ‘n’ throw shite at the moon”!

This morning saw me once more braving the front of the top of the bus as I headed out to the University of Glasgow. Being prepared for the bumps that awaited me this time, I was able to stay in my seat all the way to my destination. The University, opened in 1451, is a masterpiece in gothic architecture. That is, the main building is a masterpiece. The majority of the expansive grounds is filled with modern buildings reminiscent of most North American campuses. The Hunterian museum which holds the University’s collection of artefacts is unfortunately being refurbished and many objects of interest, including the infamous Blackstone Chair, were missing.

After wandering through what exhibits were available, I strolled through the grounds and over to the urban oasis of

Kelvingrove Park. After trying ineffectively to find my way out again, I yielded and joined the masses of students and workers lounging on the grassy hills.

Glasgow, I’ve found, lives up to its reputation as one of the friendliest cities on earth. Asking someone what bus to take will often lead to them escorting you off the bus and to your final destination (And before certain South African guitar girls start insisting that this is due to the male gender’s inability to control their hormones, let me add that the person in question was in fact a female, and heterosexual as far as I could tell). Also enjoyable in Glasgow is the lack of photography bans in museums and cathedrals. Those of you who recall last year’s Italian fiascos will be happy to hear that as of yet there have been no clandestine photos or scuffles with security guards.

As a final note, many of you have commented that Glasgow seems different than you last remembered. Let me assure you that this is due to the unusual yellow orb that has mysteriously appeared overhead and nothing more.

Named so perhaps because the dead of winter is the only time that one could handle the sweltering temperature within.

I wonder if the yellow orb you see is the same one that appeared over Vancouver for 3 days and disappeared last night probably never to be seen again. Wonder what it could be??

Ah well, you can't have it all right, but we can sure try to. lol.......Sounds like your having a great time Glasgow. It's cool to hear that the people are super friendly and will even show you the way.....Did you know Andrew's grandmother is from Edinborough? Just thought I would throw that in since you're hanging in Scotland. I can't wait to see what the next few days have in store for you, til then keep howling at the moon baby! lol.......
