STONEHENGE is a prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire county. Stonehenge is composed of earthworks surrounding a circular setting of large standing stones. The iconic stone monument was erected around 2300BC. The function of STONEHENGE remains unknown, it is believed that its role was that of an astronomical observatory. It is not denied the possibility of having been used by Druids for worship and to have functioned as a religious site.

Despite the fact that the weather was unkind to us, I really enjoyed standing face to face with this monumental site that I had only seen and read about in books. It felt almost mystical walking the paths that go round the stones, admiring the huge rocks and listening to stories- in fact mere speculations- concerning the erection of this unmatched monument.

We also enjoyed a short visit in Bath where we stopped and had supper in a cosy restaurant.
