Modern-Day Abbey Road
Who's that goon in the rear? Yesterday evening, I attended "The Beatles" Walking Tour. I was SO psyched to go on this tour because I grew up listening to the Beatles constantly, whether it be at our dinner table or while dressing for a family outing - courtesy of my dad.
We began the tour at the St. John's Wood Tube stop, which is only a few tube stops away from where my flat is located, otherwise known as Waterloo area. St. John's Wood is just a quarter of a mile down the street from the famous Abbey Road, so our tour guide took us there first. This road is most famously known for The Beatles' 1969 "Abbey Road" album cover. Abbey Road Studios, which is where the Beatles and other famous music performers recorded their work, is located kiddy corner to the actual Abbey Road. The Beatles named their final 1969 studio recorded album "Abbey Road" after Abbey Road Studios. What I did not anticipate when visiting this tourist attraction was the endless amount of traffic that was flowing through. Many of the people on my tour wanted to cross the road in hopes to capture their best Beatles pose on camera. However, with the

After visiting Abbey Road and Abbey Road Studios, we took the tube to visit the site of where Paul McCartney married Linda Eastman. The two married at the Marylebone Register Office on March 12, 1969.
Afterwards, we traveled to Oxford Circus, where the the London Palladium is held. The London Palladium is considered to be the most famous theater in the capital city and perhaps, even in the UK. Many consider this location to be where the Beatles acquired their popularity. We ended the tour at The Bag O' Nails Club, which is where Paul met Linda and is also the musical birth of the late Jimi Hendrix!
A tour of The Beatles sites was definitely at the top of my list when coming over to London, so I am very thrilled to check it off my list! The tour made me want to research more about The Beatles -- I discovered that my favorite Beatles' song, "Here Comes the Sun" was written and inspired by George Harris in Eric Clapton's garden, the morning after a stressful night filiming their 1970's movie "Let

All of their songs are such classics and at the time of the band's start, caused many to set aside their differences. In the same thought, the tour caused me to stop and realize where I am: a world-known city recognized for its musical talent. I definitely want to get to know the music scene while living here. Similar to many topics of interest amongst Londoners, music definitely brings people together.
Just as the Beatles quote: "Come together, right now, over me."
